A citizen has a great responsibility of keeping their government from becoming too powerful or corrupt. In the famous play, Julius Caesar, written by Shakespeare, the citizens of Rome kill the soon to be king because he was becoming too ambitious. In the United States citizens are allowed to own guns per the Constitution; to keep the government in check. However, there are many people that totally disagree and believe guns should be banned. The NRA exemplifies that it is a citizen's right and duty to keep their government from becoming too powerful or corrupt. The NRA heavily pushes for the United States citizens to use the second amendment to keep the government from becoming too corrupt or powerful. The second amendment states that “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed”(Madison). The right to bear arms was created so citizens could not be bullied by a dictator, could start another revolution, and protect themselves if need be. In an article titled “How Mass Shootings Spark the Gun Control Debate” an unknown author writes “The Second Amendment …show more content…
Cassius put together a group of conspirators that agreed with his motives to take matters into their own hands and put a stop to the ambitious Caesar. Brutus led these conspirators to finally killing Julius Caesar. After Caesar was killed Brutus said, “If then that friend demand why Brutus rose against Caesar, this is my answer: not that I loved Caesar less, but that I loved Rome more.”(Shakespeare 3.2.19-21) The good of his country meant more to Brutus than his own friend’s life. Brutus kept Caesar from potentially becoming a dictator and in his eyes saved the future of Rome. Brutus directly shows that it is a citizen's right or even duty to keep leaders from becoming corrupt and ruining a
The Second Amendment to the United States gives American citizens the right to own guns. The opinion of the court is that the men (Republican or Democrat) who lead this country should be allowed to protect themselves. The court’s opinion suggests that every citizen has the right to bear arms. We could defend ourselves from others who try to harm us. Here are some reasons why we should be able to own guns.
Therefore, Brutus did it for the good of Rome, he thought of everyone unlike Cassius. Considering that he tricked Brutus into joining the conspirators. Cassius did everything for himself, he did nothing for the good of others. Cassius is the least honorable in behalf of how he wanted to kill Caesar. Cassius has been a individual who wanted to kill Caesar because he didn't like him; then, he didn’t want him to rule Rome.
Dhrumil Patel Prof: kevin Eddings English Comp. 1 Date: April, 18th 2017 Gun Control in United Sates Gun Control is the most debated argument in United States of America today. Many government officials still hold to the 2nd Amendment, which bluntly states, "... the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed. " This being part of the Constitution, it bears a lot of credibility.
Brutus was an honorable, kind, and noble friend to Julius Caesar. But Brutus was also part of Caesar’s death. Brutus was a man of Rome and was loved by everyone in Rome. Everything he did was for the good of Rome. But due to his lower intellect, he fell for Cassius' sinister plan to kill Caesar.
The Second Amendment, "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." –James Madison, The Second Amendment. The founders of our country as well as our constitution believed that without weapons in the form of firearms, there is no freedom from the harsh rulings of a corrupt government. These founders had just been freed from the duty of war from a corrupt and harsh government, without their weapons or the weapons of the people; this country would not be where it is today.
Brutus cares more about his country than he does his best friends life. Caesar was Brutus’s best friend and he recognized that his best friend was becoming power hungry and was too ambitious. Only a true tragic hero of Shakespearian era play could be able to recognize the fact that one of the people they love the most has become too ambitious and the only way to stop him is by putting him to death for the good of his country. Brutus is an honorable man.
Currently, in 2017, there have been 51 mass shootings, in which four on more individuals were harmed and or killed by individual with firearms, in the US (Gun Violence Archive, 2017). Yet the National Rifle Association (NRA), which is pro-gun and 2nd Amendment, has push and lobbied vigorously against firearm regulation. The NRA has had a strong showing in congressional support for many years and have always used the constitution as the base of their debate against advocacy groups like the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence and the Brady Campaign who want stricter national regulation and enforcement of firearms. This debate seems meaningless if citizens are prone to violence by those given access to the means of their destructive acts. Our nation has experienced major loss from mass shooting incidents, we should not fear losing our constitutional right to firearms but instead fight to have it benefit us all in a safe effective
Brutus was one of Rome’s greatest leaders, because he was not afraid to make a change, and he also was there to support his people in times of
(V, iii, 19-22). Brutus believes that both he and Cassius are working together for Caesar, and killed him to end corrupt acts in Rome. Brutus kills Caesar only for the justice of Rome, and fights and stays noble for Caesar. Cassius proves his selfishness by killing Caesar for his own benefit. “Caesar cried “Help me, Cassius, or [Caesar] sink…so from the waves of Tiber
In the United States, the Second Amendment protects the right to “bear arms”. The Amendment states, “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed” (U.S. Constitution. Amendment Ⅱ). This means that a strong military is a necessity for a safe country and household, so dictating the people’s right to own firearms is considered unconstitutional . Self defense and hunting are the most common reasons for owning a weapon in the U.S. Although this Amendment declares restricting firearms unconstitutional, it is nationally debated whether the use of weaponry is a collective or personal matter.
Under the Second Amendment, of the Constitution, according to The National Rifle Association, states “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed” (NRA-ILA 1.) To clarify on the subject, from the National Rifle Association website, explains “The Second Amendment is about protecting the right of a free people to defend that freedom and to protect their families and communities from threats” (NRA-ILA 1.) All United States citizens are protected under The Second Amendment allowing them the right to own firearms, and may be used for many different situations. In other words, The Second Amendment gives all legal United States citizens the right to own a firearm. Gun ownership rights may be taken away from citizens if they are a felon, have been convicted of a violent crime, or are on probation or parole.
He was courageous when killing Caesar for the people of Rome. He had integrity when making unselfish decisions and joining the conspiracy only for the citizens. Lastly, he was kind when making choices no matter how risky, but only with good intentions of others. The citizens of Rome craved the leadership of someone with courage, integrity, and kindness Brutus possessed. Brutus was the leader who could step up to the plate and be
Cassius and others wanted Brutus, Caesar's dear friend as well as the rest of the conspiracies. These people had planned to kill Caesar as he sat in the podium at a senate meeting. Before any of this happened Caesar was told "Beware the
He had the attitude of a fair ruler, one who cared for his people and would listen. He had an attitude unlike caesars. Caesars attitude was a you cant touch this attitude where he wouldnt listen to pesants while Brutus would have gone out of his wa to listen to even the littlest of people. I believe that Brutus would have been the leader that rome needed all along to help keep the country a whole. Brutus was the noblest man of all of rome because he was his own person and thought for others before he thought of himself.
Cassius saves the life of Caesar, sees him beg for water, and witnesses his epileptic seizure. From these weaknesses, Cassius finds himself to be just as worthy of the crown as is Caesar. His reasons are emotionally tied to getting rid of Caesar, Brutus chooses to become a conspirator for the good of Rome. He does not know how Caesar will use his power.
