Lubbock Christian University is a private Christian higher education institution. LCU comes from a Church of Christ background and implements their beliefs. The LCU mission statement is “Lubbock Christian University is a Christ-centered, academic community of learners, transforming the hearts, minds, and hands of students for lives of purpose and service.” They have a very strong mission that is lived out daily at the university. As a student at LCU I am able to see day to day procedures and actions. They really live out the Christ centered part of the mission. Everywhere I look as a student at LCU I see Christ. This has to be one of the most challenging parts of the mission LCU has to accomplish because of all the different backgrounds the …show more content…
They are not known for being the most prestigious Christian college in our region they are usually overlooked by schools such as Abilene Christian University, and other larger institutes. Lubbock Christian just recently merged with Covenant Health with their nursing program and this merger has put LCU on the map in the nursing field. I believe these are the kinds of moves that will benefit LCU enough to achieve their vision in becoming a leading Christian college known for …show more content…
I believe LCU has three major competitors: Texas Tech University, other NCAA division 2 colleges, and small Christian colleges and universities. Lubbock is a small West Texas town that is starting to grow rapidly. I believe LCU can grow along with Lubbock but in order for this to happen they must take market share from Texas Tech University. Tech has always been a leading share in Lubbock and it always will be. Texas Tech had a fall enrollment of 30,737 in the Fall of 2017. Lubbock Christian University had a fall enrollment of approximately 1,500 undergraduate students. Obviously TTU will always be a significantly larger University than LCU and that is one of the reasons why I love LCU so much! Small classes are one of the greatest selling points LCU has to offer, they can also be more involved in students’ lives because of the small numbers. Assuming there are 500 graduates per high school in Lubbock ISD there will be about 2,500 students graduating and enrolling in colleges. If LCU can focus on gaining 5% of these graduates per year this will be huge for the
When it comes to college, people have a hard time deciding on which college to attend. As an senior in high school it is a big debate. Decisions are to be made, many comparisons of schools to be looked at, and etc. Rogers State University (RSU) and Tulsa Community College (TCC) are the two schools that predominantly catch my attention. Both schools offer a lot of advantages.
Claflin University is one of the most significant academic institutions in the state of South Carolina. Despite the small size of the campus, Claflin University has much to offer to its students and faculty. Therefore, during my first semester, I fell in love with five aspects of the university and I learned to appreciate the heritage of Claflin University. Although the campus may appear to be boring at times, Claflin University offers a safe environment for all of its students.
Scores from these community colleges are very low and so are the graduation rates. When students’ scores are this low, how beneficial is the quality of the education at these community colleges? Even students who are fully eligible for the TN Promise program, or college, are not prepared to go. www.highered.org says that this is the case for 60% of incoming college students.
In the cold light of day, is it perhaps no more important to foster students with dreams rather than a building take-over"(Liz214)? The community college even all the talking still strong and still maintains its integrity, is offer students a full college experience supports they need to achieve their dreams. In sum, college will never close, it gives a chance to everyone. That is why I believe college is really matter.
Over the next few years North Carolina Central University will be more diverse in the student body because of the world itself is already diversed. NCCU will have more diversity over the next years because of the academics that it provides, the motto that we stand by “Truth and Service” and because of the generous people that work here. Also the professors that teach the students the outstanding knowledge that will lead them and stick with them for the rest of their lives. NCCU was founded by James E. Shepard and opened on July 5, 1910. His reason for building the institution was because in that era in time the support for African American education in the southern states was very limited.
There are many things that separate Florida Gulf Coast University from the other schools in Florida, but just like at any school, there are those key places that every individual student loves in its own. Diversity is definitely one word that can describe a University, the fact that there are so many different kinds of people throughout Florida Gulf Coast University makes each persons’ favorite place on campus an interesting topic to discuss. Florida Gulf Coast University is one of the top schools in Florida and there is no question there, but, what exactly makes it so great? For starters, how many other college students in Florida, let alone the nation, can say they practically have a beach on campus and an auxiliary basketball court
In his article titled “I Am a Community College Student,” Terry O’Banion tells his own educational story and explains how he feels he is a community college student because of the great opportunities a community college can give students. They are affordable, close to home and Community oriented. Like Terry O’Banion I too am a community college student because without this opportunity, I would not be able to receive a college education. Community college is affordable it’s giving me the opportunity to attend college without stressing over the cost. I plan to become a lawyer and the length of time it take to do so is 7 years of college.
Throughout my life, my personal goals have evolved and made into the adult I am today. I always struggled with my self-esteem throughout time. My personal goal entering Marywood was to gain confidence and be comfortable with who I am by putting myself out there to others and showing my passion for what I love. Marywood University is the place for me to evolve into someone I am proud of. At Marywood, I plan to convey my love for art and meet intruding people who will leave a huge impact on my life.
College athletics are a viable part of that institution and this writer does not believe the institution would disagree with that statement. Having college athletics is hard on any college, because there are many things that come with having sports programs. However, at a community college it can be more difficult than if a four year institution was starting up a athletic programs. Community College is a way kids coming out of highschool have a chance to still be able to play the sport they love and help them grow in that sport . College athletics are more of an influence for young teens, than anything else the school can offer the kids.

Introduction Previously, I worked for East Carolina University Admissions as a Tour Guide. East Carolina’s Admissions, just like many other universities, are constantly working on marketing and enrolling students. This is what helps them maintain their funding and budgeting to meet all the needs of the students. A university may not seem the typical everyday business, but it is still one that requires major budget planning and control.
The college has helped me in many ways not only with my education. One example of this is I have been able to work the whole time that I have been attending classes. This allowed me to save enough money that now when I transfer to NIU in January with my associates degree, I will be able to pay for it in full without taking out student loans. This was one of my fears be for going into college was that I was going to be in debt after. ECC has helped my accomplish at least two of my goals while I was here, get a good education and not have to take out a student loan.
Coming from a different culture but still embracing the Christian values that Loma Linda University emphasizes, I believe that my unique background and personal experiences distinguish my application from others. Growing up in Egypt, where the gap between social classes is significant, my parents always stressed the need to prioritize service into my life encouraging me to dedicate time in volunteering and helping others. As a result, my experience has grown from volunteering to serve as a camp leader for orphans in the summer to participating in international dental service trips. These involvements would allow me to use my skills in organizing missions trips at Loma Linda. Being a Coptic Orthodox Christian enables me to add diversity to the
Case Study #1 Case 1: In the past, Monsanto has had many ethical issues like high performance standards that can cause employees to make unethical and illegal decisions and not owning up to hazards around them. However, Monsanto has been striving to enforce their code of ethics and has spent more time trying to become more socially responsible to the environment. For Monsanto to create an ethical culture, he would have to be proactive in anticipating, planning and acting to avoid potential ethical crisis’ (Thorne, Ferrell, & Ferrell, 2008).
Community colleges are important because they provide an affordable alternative to postsecondary education. They offer open admission, flexible schedules, and convenient locations. Community colleges make up a large part of the higher education system, enrolling more than six million students and growing rapidly. They help students become prepared to enter the workforce or transition into a four-year school. But even with all the steps taken to make community colleges accessible to all, there are still thousands of students who cannot afford to attend.
