Judas is to the left of Jesus holding a bag and clearly spilling salt on the table. The bag that Judas is holding symbolizes the thirty pieces of silver he was paid to betray Jesus. Also, Judas knocking over the salt is another sign of betrayal. Lastly, Judas is positioned lower than the rest of the apostles and his face and body are shadowed. Peter is sat besides Judas holding a knife in his hand. This is foreshadow that Peter will amputate a soldier's ear in fighting to protect Jesus from getting

The party in the ward before McMurphy’s lobotomy is parallel to Christ’s last supper before he was crucified. The narcotic cough syrup mixed with vodka resembles the wine and the two prostitutes, Candy and Sandy, are analogous to Mary Magdalene. Judas’s betrayal of Jesus is referenced with Billy Bibbit’s “betrayal” of McMurphy. In Castagno’s version, he placed Judas (the traitor), on the other side of the table, while in da Vinci’s version Judas was placed on the same side of the table as the apostle. Which gives you the feeling that the rest of the Apostle doesn’t know yet. They don’t know who the traitor is. So it feels as if this is happening in their world. But in Castagno’s Last Supper, since Judas was placed on the opposite side of the rest of the apostles, it doesn’t feel as natural as da Vinci’s version.
