Two trap stories Essay Many authors around the world use stories to reveal part of human nature, but when the reader compares it to other stories a whole new conclusion can be made about human nature. This is true for the stories “Lord of the Flies” by William Golding and “The Giver” by Lois Lowry. Both trap stories have significant comparisons that prove, when absolute power is given to one person, that person can take away everything from the others, but there is always a good person that can overcome that challenge. The “Lord of the Flies" and “The Giver" are full of similarities that can declare human nature. The setting is a fundamental comparison for both of these stories. For example, in the “Lord of the Flies" Ralph quotes: “ This is an island, perhaps there aren 't any grown ups anymore." Many people have a different viewpoint of human nature and during years some people have demonstrated their true human nature to society by abusing their power, but there are always people that fight against it. I have a theory about human nature using the real world; It 's that when power is given to one person, it could be in a family or in a wider range in the government, they abuse from it, but there is always people that fight against this types of situations to help society. However, this theory was meant to be used in the stories “Lord of the Flies" and “The Giver" because the similarities of the setting, mental trapness, and good character achieving their goals relates to it, since Jack and the Chief Elder had the circumstances and the mentality of controlling the peoples actions and also keep them away from society.
