Shakespeare's Macbeth is a classic tale of the cautions and dangers of the inherent absorption of ambition and violence. By displaying the mechanisms of a man ruled by power and ungoverned passion, who also abandons all notions of rationality, Shakespeare intricately showcases how these traits can dramatically enhance a play's emotional centre. In this essay, I will discuss how the prevalence of ambition, and exclusion of morality, amongst the array of characters in Macbeth prove to form a play of great emotional value. To begin, it is vital to observe Macbeth's progression of an overly ambitious, violent ruler. Highly regarded by his peers, he performed extraordinarily on the battlefield, having "carved a clear passage" and all the enemies …show more content…
Interestingly, it is he himself who decided to ask for guidance from Lady Macbeth, which contrasts with his impromptu encounter with the Witches. Lady Macbeth is portrayed as the exact characteristically opposite of Macbeth. She lacks a moral compass, nor sees any wrong in murdering Duncan. and further welcomes all evil to infiltrate her system. Continually, Macbeth's meek, unwilling persona is craving the harsh brute that the Witches and his wife flaunt, and it is to them that he turns to for a dose of darkness to clear him of his instinctive …show more content…
Lady Macbeth loses her ferocity and violence, and unstably attempts to hold herself together. Obviously, after killing King Duncan, the tragic effects of the deed hit her at a later time than Macbeth. While Macbeth lost his composure, it was his wife who reassured him of how a little water clears us of this deed. Soon enough afterwards, Lady Macbeths sleepwalks in regret and guilt, yelping out 'out, damned spot!' The woman who gave Macbeth all her ungoverned passion and lessons in violence is now perished into a despaired mess. Meanwhile, Macbeth finally reached his destination to being an all mighty leader, by whih in the process, lost all sense of order and righteousness that he probably had, and simultaneously adopted the potnet ambition that his wife gave to

In Shakespeare’s famous tragedy Macbeth, he utilizes various techniques in order to develop the theme of negative consequences when one’s ambition gets out of control. Though usage of metaphors and diction, Shakespeare is able to weave the theme into the core of the play while having it remain an interesting story. One of Shakespeare’s most notable skill as the world’s most famous playwright, is his almost impeccable ability to use figurative language to convey a scene. Macbeth is a prime example of his masterful command of the English language.

At the beginning of Macbeth's story, Macbeth was celebrated because he was loyal to the king. Macbeth even said, “If good, why do I yield to that suggestion temptation Whose horrid image doth unfix my hair, And make my seated heart knock at my ribs, fixed Against the use of nature?”(1.3.136-139).
By now the audience hates Macbeth. However, we begin to have a slight sympathy for Lady Macbeth. She can no longer sleep, her dreams are haunted by the death of Duncan and of Banquo. She complains of the blood on her hands knowing it will never leave.
The somber and repentant tone of Lady Macbeth shows she is a multifaceted character who is tormented by guilt and mental pain rather than being a monster. Although Lady Macbeth initially attempts to convince herself that washing her hands will absolve her of guilt, she becomes increasingly tortured by her conscience as the play progresses. In Act 5, Scene 1, she is seen sleepwalking and obsessively washing her hands, saying, “Out, damned spot! Out, I say!.. One.
As individuals, we have a certain degree of control over our own lives and the decisions we make. While external factors such as social pressure, cultural norms, and personal circumstances can influence us, ultimately, we have agency in choosing how we respond to those factors. The Tragedy of Macbeth is a well known story that revolves around the word “ambition” but this ambition isn’t always self driven by someone, but rather through the influence of someone else who maintains control of the situation. The story is about a man whose desire to be the king and have power leads to the murders of those who might stand in his way. Throughout the story we see many characters who play major parts in how one event follows another, and how some characters seem to completely have control of the events in the story. Although in Macbeth the Three Sisters and Macbeth exhibit some control over the events, Lady Macbeth has the most responsibility.

Lady Macbeth does not portray the expectations of a jacobean woman as she belittles and emasculates Macbeth to gain what she desires. As Macbeth expresses his fears through the regicide of the king, Lady Macbeth through her metaphor in “Was the hope drunk Wherein you dress'd yourself?” compares Macbeth's hope to a living dress that was drunk and she rhetorically questions if the dress was only feeling so brave because it drank too much. She further goes on to ask how he slept, and asks if he woke up sick with a hangover "Looks so green and pale" and that is the reason why he is questioning himself. According to Lady Macbeth, Macbeth is ambitious but is far too ‘kind’ to do what it takes to murder duncan.
Macbeths guilty conscience makes him unable to play the ‘true’ role of a villain of the play. Macbeth begins to see ‘false creations’ before murdering Duncan; the image of a floating dagger taunts Macbeth’s senses.
