A Dinner Menu I currently was chosen for a huge task to take on. I will be preparing a huge dinner for a business meeting. Hardly anyone wants to be stuck with something like this, since the meal is usually the biggest part of a meeting. He is also claiming that the food industry is benefiting on our lack of knowledge on how to eat properly when it comes to being healthy. Many people believe that having the best nutrition is the hardest thing to consume due to their lack of knowledge of purchasing the right types of foods. However, Muscle & Fitness Magazine’s Will Cockrell can introduce everyone to a guide to consume the healthiest foods. In his article “The Guy’s Guide to Shopping the Farmers’ Market,” he labels the nutrition on the best foods to consume on your body. The whole field guide is all about fruits and vegetables and what proper ingredients is healthy for you. Will Cockrell has pointed out that “Not only is honey a healthier sweetener for cereal, but many markets have single-serving honey sticks, a great pre-workout energy boost.”
Michael Pollan’s Escape from the Western Diet connects well with what Mary Maxfield says in her article. Both Pollan and Maxfield talk about the ways that dieting is taking over American people’s healths and causing them to become even unhealthier. In Mary Maxfield’s argument she talks about how people believe everything that diet industries say, even though they know that the information they give you is false. This connects really well with what Michael Pollan talks about in his article, which is that people know that these theories that are used for the Western diet are not accurate, but yet they still decide to use the Western diet to help them become healthier.
In Margaret Visser’s essay, “The Rituals of Fast Food”, she explains the reason why customers enjoy going to fast food restaurants and how it adapt to customer’s needs. Some examples of the most loyal fast-food customers are people seeking convenience, travelers, and people who are drug addicts. First, most loyal customers are people seeking convenience. The reason why fast food restaurants are convenient because longer hours of being open, the prices are good , etc. As Visser said in her essay, “Convenient, innocent simplicity is what the technology, the ruthless politics, and the elaborate organization serve to the customer” (131).
Thus, it is not a surprise when it comes to the situation that real foods are fading away on the dinner tables. In response to this situation, Michael Pollan writes an essay titled “Unhappy Meals” to advise his readers to “Eat [real] food. Not too much. Mostly plants” (Pollan 1). This claim holds effectively in Pollan’s essay because
