Introduction Mental health is one of components to enhance healthy lives among individuals. According to WHO (2014), mental health can be defined as a state of well-being in which every individual realizes his or her own potential can cope with the normal stresses of life. As Hong Kong is a fast-moving city, people easily feel stressful. In recent years, there are more suicidal incidents occurred in Hong Kong and within Wah Fu Estate. Most of causes of the incidents were related to mental health e.g A 35-years-old man who has mental problem stabbed his wife to unconscious and then jumped from Wah Lok House (鄺福強2014). The issue was related to insufficient mental health promotion and inaccessible community services. The issue can be disclosed as evidenced by (1) there are limited resources or support provided for mental health that only two organization provide social service related to mental health for three districts; (2) the instruction and signage which guide public to the organization is not clear enough; (3) there is only $50,000 funding for each project to organize activities within district; (4) a few radio or mass media channel will promote the mental health information; (5) even there is campaign promoting mental health, more than half of respondents did not recognized or even known about it; (6) although recreational activities can help to relieve stress, those facilities are far away from Wah Fu Estate which impede people to …show more content…

According to community assessment done with Wah Fu residents who aged 15-65 years old, it is found that there is lack of resources and access in community to enhance mental health awareness of residents in Wah Fu Estate, even though their awareness are high. Recommendations under five principles of primary health care are given based on reasons and evidences. Different parties should work together with the policies suggested, more resources and information should be provided and improvement of the accessibility of the resources should be made in order to enhance the mental awareness of
