The Influences of My Legal Career In any career there is always at least one influence that leads someone to pursue that specific field of work. I spent most of my life confused as to what I wanted to do with my life and flip-flopped around a lot. It was not until junior high that it finally hit me. The seventh graders had a job-shadowing day and, we had to follow someone around and keep tabs of what was required of that person in their job. I spent my day following around my grandmother who works for Mississippi Valley Title doing insurance practices for a law firm in the building. We were situated in the middle of the building and I had to run back and forth making copies and filing different requests, cases, and reports for the firm. I had …show more content…
I wanted to be a part of something that was bigger than just myself and whose duty it was to help others with issues that they could not deal with on their own. At the end of the day I took it upon myself to speak with the firm about working after hours doing paperwork and any other small tasks that I could complete with little to no difficulty. My mind was dead set on doing what I could to spend more time with the attorneys and learn more about the field of …show more content…

This is one of the biggest reasons I want to pursue being a paralegal. These are just some of the reasons regarding this opportunity that have influenced my pursuit in the field of
Case Study Two: Sam Stevens In the case of Sam Stevens, we need to investigate if there was enough evidence to conclude if a legal verbal contract was sat into place. There are elements of the contract that must be met before any contact is valid. According to Chapter 13 of Dynamic Business Law, the four elements of a contract are agreement, the consideration, contractual capacity and a legal object. The first two elements are meaning that there was a mutual agreement made by both parties and where all propositions are considered by both the offeror and the offeree.

There are many reason why I chosen the career of a district attorney. Getting a degree in political science can lead me into many other careers so I would not be limited. Becoming a district attorney requires difficult analyzing skills, critical thinking, and a motive for hard work. Being a district attorney will require rigorous work, time, and dedication prior to becoming a part of a county team. While I was doing my job shadow, I was exposed to the processes and responsibilities of being a county attorney. During this, I became aware of how well my personal and academic strengths would fit this job. Serving my community is, and always has been, very important to me. This job would allow me to serve my community and the people within it. As a county attorney, I would be able to defend our constitution, uphold the requirements of our laws, and protect the people by bringing criminal acts perpetrated in the district to
They will have knowledge in filling out forms and the documents that need to be filed with the filled out forms. Most paralegals take national exams and are members of the National Association of Legal Assistants (NALA). Similar to lawyers, these paralegals also would be insured against malpractices. People need to understand the difference between lawyers, paralegals and accredited representatives. These representatives are not lawyers or paralegals.
One of the greatest decisions one will always have to attain is what career to engage in this life. I feel that no one should take this decision lightly due it is what one should believe he or she wants to for the duration of their career. There are numerous of careers to select from and a commonly expected question should be how do I decide what career I would have a passion for doing. As for myself the answer would be pretty simple, I would decide on something that appeals to my interest, mainly something I would do well or have knowledge with. However, it is in my opinion that one should by no means base their career money factors, because then the career will not be enjoyable or satisfying for there will possibly be no peace of mind.
The lessons that I’ve learned throughout the course made me more confident when assisting job seekers and students with selecting their prospective careers. From the very beginning, this course has taught me how to use my available resources when assisting with career choices. Those resourceful tools include the Occupational Outlook Handbook and Fastweb. With these tools, I learned out to effectively select a career, outline the expected job vacancy, find funding for secondary education, and access scholarship opportunities. During the group presentations, I learned about the foundations of career development, ethic and legal guidelines, assessments, and how to prepare for work; as well as how to effectively counsel in business settings and private practices.

I have always liked helping other people. This was my dream job, as I did some ride along’s with the Rochester Police Department numerous times I said this is what I’m going to do. The ride along was an opportunity to see what it was like a day on the job and ask questions. The year I graduated I was enrolled in RCTC’s law enforcement program and was very excited. I thought I had everything for the rest of my career ahead of me planned.
I plan to pursue the career of being an attorney or lawyer. A typical day as a lawyer or Attorney includes applying the law and its duties to clients and their individual circumstances. It may also include giving legal advice, or legal perspectives to a client. Attorneys may also have to represent clients on legal matters in court. Being a successful attorney includes a variety of skills like decisions making, negotiating, and persuasion.
(Zunker, 2006). Leong and Brown (1995) found that most theories of career choice made five assumptions, and validity of these assumptions arise mainly from a cross-cultural perspective. These assumptions are: 1) career development is a continuous, without interference, and progressive; 2) The decision maker has a way of psychological, social, and economic influence their choice; 3) there is honor in all work; 4) there exists a labor market that is free and open; and 5) the best career option essentially flows from the internal (personal)

My strengths are in languages and my ability to connect and speak to people of all ages. Being a lawyer would include me having to have face-to-face interaction with clients, and I will be able to use these skills to my advantage as a lawyer. In this law firm, there are many different types of lawyers.
The phrase: “Helping others is the way we help ourselves” from Oprah Winfrey inspired me to choose this profession. Helping people solve their problems, giving them the opportunity to let off steam and share their feelings through confidential talks makes this profession unique and exceptional. I have abilities and values, such as: persistence, kindness, and loyalty, that are highlighted and essential to this job. Also, I have a plan that I will already start following it because this is what I want to be.
