My philosophy of a leadership is shaped by many of the components included in trait theory. I think leaders have specific traits that make them effective in leading. In my first discussion question I used my father-in-law as example of an effective leader by describing traits that made him effective as a leader as a result, I felt inclined to use him in the leadership questionnaire. Unsurprisingly, the survey revealed that faculty rated my father in law high in empathy, sensitivity, perceptive, trustworthy, and dependability. I think it is important for the leader being surveyed to understand his or her effectiveness as a leader based of individual traits. Joseph A. Being able to incorporate communication, organization, honesty, positivity, and empathy. These values form the foundation of my leadership philosophy guiding my actions and interactions with team members.
I define a leader as a person who has not only the ability but also the willingness to endure the hardships others may not be capable of handling. Leaders not only inspire others to achieve goals that seem impossible but manage to get others to work together in achieving these set goals for the betterment of themselves and the mission. Respect, communication, and teamwork are the pillars that I believe most align with my leadership style. Respect is an important part of the foundation as a leader as you are responsible for promoting an environment of safety and growth. Communication is key, without it you are not taking into consideration the issues your members could be having.
To help illustrate my personal leadership philosophy, I invite you to join me on a metaphorical journey into the world of bakery. Imagine yourself as a baker embarking on a quest to create the perfect cake. You have read countless recipes and attended baking classes, learning about different techniques, measurements, and ingredients. Armed with this knowledge, you meticulously follow every step outlined in the recipe, hoping to replicate the success of others. In this scenario, the recipe represents the leadership principles and styles taught to us.
There are several specific traits that many leaders have in common, and those traits are considered as essentials for leaders. According to the great man theory, leaders are born, not made, and this theory became the fundamental of trait based theory. The limitation of trait based theory is not all situations require the same types of traits. Add to this, categorizing traits is not easy since there are hundreds of traits exist.
1. My philosophy of leadership is about collaboration and teamwork. Respecting and treating everyone the same, is key to supporting a good team atmosphere. I believe when a leader puts effort and care into assisting others, then their peers and followers will naturally want to support them. It is also important for a leader to recognize, that advocacy must never become so important that the critical elements of leadership are neglected (e.g. policy enforcement, command support, etc...).
I will be focusing on my personal leadership style, as well as my future development plans in this essay writing. The flow of the essay will go from a short introduction and history of how I have advanced into a leader, following by my leading abilities, my strength and lastly on what my future development plans will be. After my graduation from Republic Polytechnic, I started working in my family business, a business dealt in manufacturing condiments and wholesaling the products. I was given task from all sorts of ends, from labor working, manufacturing to managing the sale list.
As the semester and course have progressed, I’ve grown tremendously in my views of leadership, education, and the importance of diversity in a community. That being said, my philosophy of leadership has also been altered to reflect the knowledge I’ve obtained. I defined leadership at the beginning of the semester as setting a positive example through my actions for those who I’m leading. I emphasized that leadership is an active, rather than passive role, and should involve daily engagements with residents and openness to constructive criticism. Although my current definition isn’t drastically different from my last, I failed to recognize the one thing central to Christian Leadership: Jesus.
In developing this paper on leadership, I examined what was most important to me as a leader. As I reflected on my leadership philosophy, I thought about my experiences and the principals that I have learned through my own self-discovery and the observation of other leaders that I have had throughout my life. My leadership philosophy paper will focus on what leadership is to me, core values, and knowledge of others. In thinking about my definition of leadership, I thought of what was most important to me in and as a leader.
Introduction: Leadership has been described as "a process of social influence in which a person can enlist the aid and support of others in the accomplishment of a common task". For example, some understand a leader simply as somebody whom people follow, or as somebody who guides or directs others, while others define leadership as "motivating and organizing a group of people to achieve a common goal". Studies of leadership have produced theories involving traits, situational interaction, function, behavior, power, vision and values, charisma, and intelligence, among others. What qualities distinguish an individual as a leader? " Underlying this search was the early recognition of the importance of leadership and the assumption that leadership is rooted in the characteristics that certain individuals possess.
Those individuals who were believed to have these inherent skills were people of very influential status, wartime heroes and those of great wealth. The people who emerge or are most picked to lead have distinctive drives and character profiles (Nicholson, 2013, p.16). Leadership Thought Development from 1900 – 1970 The thought of leadership evolved from the Great Man Theory to Trait Theory and Behavior Theory. The trait theory focuses on identifying distinctive personality traits and characteristics that are associated to successful leadership.
Recent scandals in government, business, sport and even religious organisations have reaffiliated the importance of ethical leaders in our current day and age. Brown, Treviño and Harrison (2005) summarised ethical leaders as people who are considerate, truthful, principled individuals. They are balanced and fair decision makers who set clear ethical standards and communicate openly with their followers. Finally, they are proactive role models for ethical conduct as their deeds reflect their own ethical principles and values.
From my point of view , Leadership has more to it than I can possibly imagine. I define leadership as the art of enabling a group of people get to a specific destination. As a leader your main focus was to enable your followers lead theselves. As i think deeper i realise a person cannot choose to be a leader. I think a lot of the time people take on leadership positions without knowing.
This paper will examine the three leadership theories, identify how they apply to my practice, and explore how these theories interact with each other. The Trait Leadership Theory is based on the belief that a person is born with special traits contributing to natural leadership abilities. Studies of famous historical leaders have been used to identify various traits for this theory. Although the list of traits differs from study to study, there are five major traits that are consistent throughout most studies.

Moses is one of the most well known individuals in the Bible, and this is for good reason. Moses was the person whom God used to lead His people out of slavery, and also to deliver His Law to Israel. Moses had a relationship with God that was unlike any during his lifetime. As a result of being chosen by God to lead the great nation of Israel, Moses provides many good principles of leadership to learn from.
