Gamers will no longer be forced to play the same genres repeatedly because they can now be put into a mental realm of their own where they are the persona battling for survival their own way. Being the one in the game knowing that you are being stalked by a creature, ghost, or even another human gives you the thrill that other genres cannot. Horror games are rare and not repetitive like other genres. Additionally, horror games are split up into two sub genres: Psychological horror and survival horror. The psychological horror relies on your bodies reactions to danger thus giving you chills from the beginning to the end of the game. Darkness is always the main setting because it enables our fear mechanism letting us fear that something is about to happen at any moment. This happens because of our inability to see clearly. It contains a dark gloomy atmosphere with eerie music to keep you on edge at all times. This sub genre has the most jump scares out of the two because you have a fear of the unexpected and unknown. The survival horror is more like a game of cat and mouse because you are mainly being chased and you have to survive. This type lets you test your survival skills for if you were in an actual situation like that. Unlike the psychological horror this type relies on how you react to being attacked,

Also, he wishes to point out the flaws of now stereotypical slashers. According to the message of the film, horror movies are all the same, constructed from familiar clichés and rules that must be broken in order to present a project with originality, wit, and intelligence. Humans tend are entertained by the most iniquitous things. Stephen King makes many significant points, one point being “the horror film has become the modern version of the public lynching” (paragraph 6). This is agreeable because all humans have some type of psychological problem, an evil and a good side, emotions that need satisfaction, and the similarities between horror films and public lynching. People may not recognize these things, but it does exist in everyday life. Stephen King’s article helps point these things out to readers.
It may not be Halloween, or October, but rather there are a few authentically good horror movies out there that are traumatizing and unforgettably frightening. I am not going to lie, I was quite the most sizably voluminous scaredy-cat. After visually examining a horror movie, I would become paranoid to be solitary. And sometimes I would even be frightened to scrub down. This was me as a child incidentally.
In Stephen King’s essay, “Why We Crave Horror Movies”, he discusses his view that everybody is insane but they keep it within themselves and horror movies is what controls their hidden insanity. King gives examples that even daily, people have small episodes of insanity that gets exposed but they still buy tickets to watch horror movies that challenge their hidden insanity. King then digs into the reasons as to why people are willing to buy tickets to watch horror movies. He simply states that people watch them to prove that they can withstand the scare and adds on how horror movies are similar to roller coaster rides: they both give a scare at unexpected places and is aimed for young audiences.
Hunters believe animals are not capable of reasoning and they see them as something lesser than humans. Throughout time, these positions can change. The short story, “The Most Dangerous Game” written by Richard Connell, consists of General Zaroff being the hunter and Rainsford being the hunted.
