Discrimination When people think of discrimination, the Holocaust comes to mind, but there are many more examples and ways of discriminating against others. This issue has been going on for centuries, and it is still a problem in today’s world. Discrimination is the isolating of others because of race, intelligence, and/or religion. The idea of discrimination because of race is the most common type of isolation. Just flipping through a history book, the examples of discrimination due to race is evident. The Holocaust, for example, was an inhumane way to get rid of the Jewish race and to “purify” the German race. There was also discrimination in To Kill a Mockingbird:
She was white, and she tempted a Negro. She did something that in our society

Others do not want to include them because they think they will slow them down. Lennie in Of Mice and Men experienced discrimination because of his mental disability, “You was gonna leave your big flapper shut and leave me to do the talkin’. Damn near lost us the job” (Steinbeck 358). In this quote, it shows that George is worried that if they hear Lennie talk, they will assume he cannot work, and they will lose the job. This discrimination is a little less common in today’s society than isolating because of race, but it is still an issue in some places and countries. Another major issue of discrimination is religion. As the years go by, the fight between religions is getting worse. The Crusades, three wars between the Christians and Muslims, are an example of religious discrimination. The Crusades lasted from 1095 to 1291. (Baldwin, Dickinson, and Madden). The Christians and Muslims were fighting over control of Jerusalem, and they did not accept anyone of other religions. It has gotten a little better since then, but now the Islamic religion does not accept any Christians. They are even willing to persecute anyone who is not with their
Discrimination of the mice and men In the book Of mice and men written by John Steinback some of the characters are mistreated by the other people because they are not the same they are the outcast of the group. Curley 's wife is a lonely woman on a ranch with a whole bunch of ranch hands and nobody wants to have anything to do with her she got married to man that she doesn 't even love she is just on the ranch with a lot of people and really nobody likes her and even after death nobody even felt bad for her. Candy said “ You God D*** Tramp”. You did it din you.
Oregon governor Kate Brown once said, “No individual, regardless of where they live or whom they love, should suffer discrimination”. Discrimination is very common in societies everywhere and is unanimously agreed on as a major problem .The most critical issue across cultures today is discrimination because it causes segregation and lack of acceptance of one's culture . One main effect of discrimination is segregation of different cultures.
The Oppression During the Depression During the Great Depression, society oppresses women by characterizing them based on their family’s reputation and grouping them as different from men. Such society norms results in the loneliness that women experience, as supported by the character, Mayella Ewell, in the novel To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee. Particularly, in the novel Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, society’s oppression impacts one notable character especially. Curley’s wife expresses the theme of how people perceive women as being flirtatious for being lonely.
In the novel Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, we see Lennie and George during the 1930’s traveling together. Lennie is always causing trouble which results in George having to fix his messes. It also gives us a glimpse of discrimination against basic human rights. Discrimination drastically affects the lives of groups and individuals in society.
Have you been discriminated against because of your skin color? In John Steinbeck’s novella Of Mice and Men the main characters, George Lennie, have a dream of buying their own house so Lennie can have rabbits. They went to a ranch to work and they met the characters Crooks,Candy,Curley. Steinbeck uses discrimination in Of Mice and Men by the character of Crooks because of his skin color and he is black. First, Steinbeck uses discrimination by the character Crooks due to his color of skin.
Discrimination is a big problem, and people get treated differently because of their race, religion, ethnicity and much
People are categorized into certain groups regarding races, ethnicities, and religion because it’s easier. Some individuals base their treatment of others because they think of themselves being superior. Prejudice results in terrorism, racism, and genocide throughout the globe. In addition, women are treated unfairly compared to men. For example, Malala Yousafzai was wanted as a criminal for trying to give girls an education.
Mice and men essay Our society tends to disregard the need to have an open mind. This has caused our current perspective to be tainted with discrimination. In the novel Of Mice and Men, Discrimination is present when an individual accepts appearance rather than personality. This present through the character of Crooks, who choose to comply to racism.
I strongly agree with the statement ‘Of Mice and Men is Steinbeck's protest against the unfairness of American society in the 1930s.’ because throughout the novel Steinbeck shows a variety of examples of the discrimination people in 1930s America would face. He also shows us that there was a lack of hope and humanity around this time. A key character in Of Mice and Men who shows how people were treated is Curley's wife. The use of the possessive apostrophe in her title, "Curley's wife”, leads to us being able to infer that she is seen as an object and treated as though she was Curley’s possession.
Discrimination can affect anyone, though usually, it targets those of color and women, there are cases when those discriminated, are white males, such as Arthur (Boo) Radley. Despite being a white man,
Have you ever experienced a situation that involved racism? Maybe someone of a different race was treated unfairly or made fun of because they were of a different color. In To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee, racism is a recurring theme because it dominates most of the events that take place in the novel. The book is a view of life in the town of Maycomb, Alabama in the 1930's. To Kill A Mockingbird is told through the eyes of Scout Finch.
Discriminatory and Non-discriminatory practice A setting must have a code of practice and policies which make sure discrimination cannot occur and that they are not breaking the law. Nursery setting must recognise and respond to the needs of the individual who access their setting. Discrimination is behaviour or action that is motivated by unfair beliefs. In term 2, I have learnt many things along the way from SAWI. Invisible discrimination is present worldwide and everyone has faced invisible discrimination before, be it the majority group or much more frequently the minority group. Discrimination is the treatment or making a different judgement against someone based on their group which that person is thought to belong to rather than by their personal achievements. This includes the treating of an individual or group based on their membership in that certain social group in an approach that is much worse than how people are normally treated. Discrimination restricts an individual of a certain group to be unable to have benefits or opportunities as another more majority group.

Discrimination is an action or a decision that treats a man or a social affair gravely for reasons, for instance, their race, age or debilitate. It includes so many things like race/ethnicity, age, color, region, sex, employment and culture. Language is one of the discrimination types which I am going to describe.
