Óscar Arias Sánchez was the president Costa Rica, from 1986 to 1990. He was born September 13, 1940 in Heredia, Costa Rica. Óscar Arias Sánchez born into one of the wealthiest coffee bean growing families in his country, Costa Rica. He went to schooling at the Saint Francis College in the capital city of San José. After concluding his schooling there he then went to the United States and enrolled in Boston University but he soon returned to his home country and completed his schooling he started in Boston at the University of Costa Rica. Concluding his schooling in 1967, he traveled to the United Kingdom and enrolled in the London School of Economics to finish out his schooling. After getting an education he then became President of Costa Rica from 1986 to 1990 and from 2006 to 2010. During his first period of being president he received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1987 for his efforts to end the Central American crisis. Óscar Arias Sánchez got the Nobel Peace Prize for a plan designed to put an end to the cruel civil wars that were highly destructive in Central America. In early August 1987, his peace plan the peace plan was approved by Costa Rica, and other countries. In 1988 he used his Nobel Prize money to establish the Arias Foundation for Peace and Human Progress, by doing this it promoted peace throughout the
