Cover Letter This essay made me do a lot of thinking about what family meant to me. There were a lot of words that came to mind but I came to the conclusion of only a few. There are SO many different definitions of family, love, support, etc. Not many of those definitions fit mine exactly but they do include some things I would say. In order for me to have a solid foundation for my essay, I did a little research on other people’s definition of family and saw how they would describe it. Things such as, how they would describe their family and what words do they associate with family. There were many areas in this paper where I used specific details to support my claim. There were areas in my paper where I had a little difficulty explaining things but once I thought about it more, ideas came to my mind. I listed those ideas and singled out the ones I wanted to use then I put them into logical sentences. I can’t make this cover letter as …show more content…
According to Dictionary.com, family means a group of persons who form a household under one head, including parents, children, and servants. According to Google family means, all the descendants of a common ancestor. As one can see, there are many different meanings to family. To me family means support, dysfunctional, love, and friendships. Family is the most important influence on a child’s life. Children always depend on their mother, father, or both to support them. Family is supposed to support each other because they want them to succeed and excel in life. Having a supportive family is always a great feeling. You may have a lot or a little support but if it’s from family it makes you feel good. To know that someone is “rooting” for you makes you want to push yourself harder to achieve your dreams. A lot of people do not have supportive
Family is one of the biggest impact on people's lives in numerous ways. They help to teach each other perseverance even in the toughest times. In the novel Night by Elie Wiesel, Elie was able to survive the countless nights in the concentration camps because he knew he had his father right by his side throughout it all. In the novel Sold by Patricia McCormick, young Lakshmi did not have her family in person with her at the Happiness House, but she had them in her thoughts constantly. It was these thoughts that allowed her to keep going even when nothing was what she thought it would be.
Is loyalty to your family stronger than loyalty to the law or is the Law stronger than Loyalty to the family? The ones who are with Law says that it keeps everything in order while ones who are with Family says that family will always support you. There is a line between Law and Family but family will always dominate the Law. Family are people who will be by your side they don’t even have to be related to you to be Family. Family is a bond that holds all things together. The concept of family had never been very prominent in my life until the diagnosis of my grandfather.
Family gives everyone the love and support needed to have more meaning in life. Every family does not have to be connected by blood. Family can be created by caring strongly for one another. Ishmael Beah had a big family that consisted of his birth parents, two brothers and his friend Talloi. During the war, Ishmael was separated from his family.
Family. A lot of people cringe at the word because of the embarrassment that can come with it. Family means a support system that will follow through for you when you need it. A group of people, related or otherwise, who knows exactly what to do to push your buttons or make you feel better. In the book, Speak, Melinda grows up in a, seemingly normal, yet dysfunctional setting.
In the essay “What Is This Thing Called Family”, Lee Herrick reflects his life as a Korean adoptee raised by a Caucasian couple in America. He suffered a difficult life when he was a child because of the differences of his physical attributes from his sister and parents. Through the essay, Herrick has a chance to express his ideas about family and what family means to him. Everyone has something called a family but whether the definition of the family of each person is the same or not is debatable. I also have my own idea about family which I think is similar to Herrick’s opinions in the essay.
The love of a family is life’s greatest blessing. In life, there is a universal desire for oneness among people—we want to belong. It is why we collaborate, support common causes, cheer for sports teams, feel nationalism; it’s why we build villages, towns, and cities. Families are where we connect ourselves in relationships to past, current, and future generations. For many, family is not only a blessing, but our greatest accomplishment.
(Unique title) What makes a family a family? Families are all different. Having a family does not always include having both a mother and father. Sometimes having a family is a group of coworkers or friends from school.
“Family” is a hard word to create a concrete definition for. If one were to ask three random people on the street, it is likely they will receive three completely different answers to defining a family. The textbook definition of family according to the etymology dictionary is: “Origin in early 15c. “servants of a household” from Latin familia “family servants, domestics collectively, the servants in a household.” The traditional dictionary describes family in a more narrow fashion stating, “a basic social unit consisting of parents and their children, considered as a group, whether dwelling together or not.”
Through all the tough and terrible situations a person may be wrapped up in your family is usually the group of people you can go to, and get the best most helpful advice. In my family I have certain people that I can automatically go to and tell them my problems without being judged, and I always get the best advice. People in your family are the people you keep closest to you because they are blood, and they’re not friends that come and go. They are blood and will always be apart of you and want nothing but the best for you. People in a family that give the best advice are the ones who have gone through so many battles in their life because they know what it takes to overcome them.
They have always encouraged me to do my best and strive for the best, they have always supported my positive decisions, and they have always helped me when I’ve been in trouble. My family has been there for me and each other through thick and thin, and I really love them. Their advice, support, and encouragement have incited me to endeavour for the highest possible achievements. My family is my major influence as they have affected my life from the very start of my life in everything I do.
The biggest decision The word family has many definitions, but only one of the definitions stood out to me; according to Merriam-Webster family is described as a group of individuals living under one roof and usually one head. When I was twelve years old my parents and I had to make a decision that would change my life forever. This decision came the day before my elementary school graduation, I lived in Puerto Rico at the time with my mother Raquel and my half-sisters Paola and Dylailah.
My family is very inspiring to me. I am very thankful that my parents brought me into this world. Growing up my parents always showed me how exactly things work in life. One of the hardest things that I had to accept was that I could not have everything I wanted. There were times when my parents spoiled me
Family Family is one of the greatest gift and blessing from the Lord. Without family you can not feel love, care , satisfaction and happiness. They are the most treasured blessing that no one can take away from us. It is also like a fragile thing you consider as the most precious gem in your whole life. Family is a basic unit in the society traditionally consisting of parents and children.
I do not have a constricted view of family because I have been growing up in a time period where the idea of family is more important than the physical depiction of a family. As long as a family cares for, loves, and supports one another, then they are a family. The reason that I hold family to such a high esteem is because growing up in the Midwest, family is one of the most important values that a person has. In addition to family some other important values are hard work, kindness, and respect.
