I have decided to blog about my personal experience with abortion. Abortion is a huge controversial issue globally in so many aspects of this sociology class, not only in today’s world but for decades. My personal experience effected my phycological and social self in many ways. Both bad and good.
I was 30 years old, single, and 8 months into buying my first home, I found out I was pregnant. I was having promiscuous sex with 2 different men, who I had no desire to share a child with. After days of soul searching and deciding what was important to me, I made the most difficult mental and physical decision of my life and that was to have an abortion.
Only a handful of my girlfriends and 1 family member knew about my current state of being, and those few did know my decision. I called immediately to schedule the appointment with a recommendation from my local Planned Parenthood office. I had my appointment set within, 10 days and a girlfriend committed to taking me. The day came quickly, I don’t remember the exact date, but I do remember the protesters. The poster board signs, telling women we were baby killers. The cut-out pictures of aborted fetus, I just covered my face and put my head in between my legs. After about 3-4 hours, we were on our way out with doctor orders to follow up with my

Physically feeling great but mentally still processing what I had just done to my own child. In walks my female doctor, who I had been going to for 3+ years. She reads my chart and realizes why I’m there, she tells me, we need to get you on some other type of birth control other than this method. It took me a minute to process what she had just said to me. Judging me for a decision I made for my best physical, mental, family and financial situation. I didn’t cry until I reached the car. It was a pleasure, not every going back to that women for my health care
It was May 29, 1997 when a bald little creature was born; her name is Theresa Buenrostro. Indeed, that was me. My mother who is a small Latina woman had 3 boys already. Just 1 year and 5 days before I was born she had my brother. According to her though I was the most difficult one during pregnancy and labor.
In today’s society, abortion is a controversial topic. Many people dispute if it is moral to eliminate the potential of the unborn fetus or if it is fair to force the parent to keep and raise the baby if the parent isn’t ready. In Sallie Tisdale’s We Do Abortions Here: A Nurse’s Story, the author uses imagery and internal conflict to recreate her experiences as a nurse employed at an abortion hospital. She does this to make her audience understand her and the people who work in abortion hospitals’ perspective.
Abortion is not only a fluctuating concept in our society, but an ethical and emotional debate, as well. The image I have chosen presents concepts from a cultural and historical background, as well as presents an ethical, emotional, and logical appeal to the audience. The debate about abortion has simply been overblown and exhausted. The truth of the matter is, abortion is murder. Ending a life, whether innocent or guilty, is murder.

Thesis Statement: Abortion has been a major topic throughout the years, there has been much debate between pro-choice and pro-life but if people can come together to reach comprises it could help society make positive progress. There are many different views and opinions on abortion in today’s world. Some would say that abortion is wrong and others would say it is right; and some would say it is wrong or right depending on the circumstances. This is when complications surface and people began to look at all aspects of the situation. Abortion has always been a controversial social issue but not as potent as the year 2016 and 2017.
Worldwide, 42 million abortions occur every year, 20 million of which happen on unsafe terms (Haddad and Nour 122). As of late, abortion incidence has begun to decrease due to the creation and distribution of contraceptive medications, as this resulted in fewer unintended pregnancies. However, the overall number of unsafe abortions has remained the same, making the proportion of unsafe to safe terminations greater as time goes on (Sedgh et al. 629). This trend is especially evident in the United States, and does not appear to be ending soon; the epidemic of unsafe abortion in America will only continue to increase under current conditions. In this essay, I will use research conducted on the United States’ legislations to examine how the lack
The biggest decision of my life was made on that day and I since haven’t changed my mind. I turned to my mother and
I waited a few weeks the flu like symptoms, sick stomach, sensitive skin, random headaches; finally giving in and went and bought a test. When it came back positive I was in disbelief. I made my appointment at our local pregnancy center to get my confirmation letter. The confirmation letter is required to go visit an actual OBGYN. The appointment was two days before my twentieth birthday, I also had to inform the father of the child I was carrying.
Abortion Abortion is one of the most talked about issues right now. Everyone seems to have an opinion, a strong one. This is still a debate, even though in 1973, the Supreme Court ruled that the procedure is a fundamental right in the case Roe v. Wade (Abortion ProCon.org, 1). Abortion is the ending of a pregnancy before you have gone full term, which means that the embryo cannot survive on its own.
I still remember July 31, 2015 like it was yesterday. I was lying in bed at five in the morning, contemplating the day I had ahead of me on a warm summer morning. Hearing a knock on my bedroom door, my mom walked in and whispered that she was leaving for the hospital with my dad. All I could manage to do was hug her. My mom was scheduled to be induced to have my youngest brother, Andrew.
“In the year 2004, there were approximately 1.37 million abortions performed in the United States” (Chew 143). Since 1973 and even before, abortion has raged into a hot-topic issue among the press, politicians, and even doctors; among many other people. This topic has been disputed since even before the late Nineteenth Century. During the 1940s, it even became a social norm to raid the abortionists’ offices. From that time on, the abortion debate has been brought into light many times.
For example, finds out whether continuing or terminating a pregnancy cause greater physical or psychological harms and risks to the mother. On the other hand, Bonevski & Adams (2001) further added that abortion may expose the mother to grief and regret. As such, it is important to gain mother’s consent before making the decision. Apart from that, in resolving slightly similar case study of 18 years old student was referred in view of her request for termination of pregnancy. She was gang-raped and found out she is pregnant.
I have a high pain tolerance, so it took all day for me to start feeling my contractions and I eventually needed an epidural. Thirty-six hours later I was fully dilated, and it was time to start pushing. The doctors gave me the option to watch myself give birth and I did so with my mom, my boyfriend, and his mom by my side at 3:35 PM my son was born and fully healthy thank god. My son is five and a half months old now. He is my motivation, a big reason why I’m getting my diploma.
“Abortion -should it be a right of every woman in the present context- A critical analysis” 1. Introduction I elected to present my dissertation on a topic based on ‘abortion’ since it is a hidden social menace in our society. It is like an iceberg. The tip represents the reported abortions, which everyone sees.
