As my Freshman year begins, I am starting to realize how important certain things are in my life. Freshman year is full of distractions that could lead to many bad things, such as putting popularity and friends before grades and education. Many people are unaware of how easily this can happen, and before they know it, they are in jeopardy of not graduating to go on to college. However, It is important to also have a life outside of grades, and to get involved at school. I plan on accomplishing three different goals by the end of freshman year and high school in general. These goals consist of achieving a 4.0 grade point average or higher while being involved at school simultaneously, Going to a 4 year university to pursue my career, and to master the art of surfing. It is important for my focus to stay on these goals, and high school will not be one of the obstacles that takes me down. Achieving a high grade point average in high school is one of the key things that is necessary to get into a good university. That is why it is extremely important that I do this and that I stay on track, no matter what gets in the way. It is also important to stay involved at the same time, and to have a life outside of school work and grades. Grades are not the only thing that colleges look …show more content…
My dad is at work a lot of the time, and with school and homework that needs to get done, I do not get to spend time with him very often. Surfing is how my dad and I connect, which is why it is so important to me. I want to get better at surfing for my dad, but for myself as well. Surfing is something that I do to spend time with my dad, but it is also something that I do to make myself happy too. That is why getting better at surfing and mastering it is a goal of mine that I will someday
Finally, I want to graduate on time. So before I graduate, I need all my credits and work to be completed. If I do all of these things, I will strive and succeed in my four years of high
Many high school seniors who plan on going to college or get a job may have good grades but they might not have gotten involved with any clubs or activities at school or anywhere else. If a student doesn’t get involve with others or with anything they run the risk of getting rejected because “participation in extracurricular activities will foster creative, social and physical skills that are desirable qualities to colleges and future employers.” ( Kelley). When students get involved with their school it shows others that they enjoy working with others and exploring what they might enjoy doing. It also shows how they can help out others and how they can benefit each other.
I would like Posse Fundation to know that doring my junior year, I was enrolled in early college at the University of the District of Columbia, taking English Composition 1, and I will also start the US History to 1865 class this summer, June 27 in the same university. I have worked as a babysitter every afternoon for almost a year. Doring my Senior year, I will be joining the girls softball team as
As Charles Darwin once stated “Doing what little one can to increase the general stock of knowledge is as respectable an object of life, as one can in any likelihood pursue.” Le start with character. Character defines a person who they are, how they think and act and having morals. Having good character will help you to be confident in your daily choices, identifying what is important to you, and most importantly, it will help you develop integrity which is moral code for strength, truthfulness and courage that will eventually build relationship with others and a foundation for success, Second is community services, many students view it as an unfortunate requirement to graduate high school while others are view it as a way to seek to serve others. Serving others will make a tremendous difference to you and to those around you, it will also make life worthwhile.
I believe that you never stop learning that we obtain knowledge in all aspects of life, but school is a major way that we broaden our horizons. This is one of the reasons I want to pursue medicine, you never stop learn and acquiring knowledge. With knowledge comes determination, achieving high grades and taking advantage of all possible opportunity take determination and determining how much it means to you. Personally, I have been determined my entire high school career to achieve high grades, be in the top of my class, and enter college
I have invariably strived to keep my grades up above a 3.8 GPA, while taking several advanced classes. By the end of Senior Year, I will have taken five Advanced Placement classes and a three credit college class. In addition to extracurriculars and keeping my grades high, I also have volunteered in many different ways, whether tutoring students at school, showing grade schoolers around the high school, or teaching Sunday School at church. College is especially important to me and my future. I have been working towards attending college for most of my life.
Many students involve themselves in AP classes, sports, music and art, clubs, and much more, so it’s no wonder high school students are so stressed. Living comfortably in college requires the same kind of balance, but with minor variances. For some people, work becomes a much more important priority compared to socialization. Others spend an exceptional amount of time involving themselves in extracurricular activities and social events around campus. Either way, studies are still most likely the primary focus.
Once out of high school a student’s goals in life change immediately. They go from wanting to get good grades and wanting to have the most friends out of anyone in their school to wanting to get a well paying job and wanting to be the best in whatever department one may be involved in. Extracurriculars and clubs help further those aspirations. June Kronholz, an education writer for The Wall Street Journal, found that students who
When most kids are entering high school, there’s the usual worries: when’s your next sporting event? Are you keeping up on that 4.0 cumulative GPA? Do you have a prom and homecoming date? The cliché list continues. That’s the beauty of high school.
The past four years of my life hold both my highest of highs and my lowest of lows. High school can be a very awkward time period in a person’s life. Four years ago, I made the intimidating switch from St. Mary’s School to Algoma High School. There were certain aspects of high school which made me nervous, but academics was not one of them. I learned how to be a responsible student in my earlier years, and school had always come relatively easy to me.
After high school, many of us have goals we want to complete, but the path towards our goals may not always run smoothly or be easy, whether big or small. We all faced the everyday challenges of high school , from getting out of bed in the morning or passing that exam everyone said was complicated. Now, it’s time to decide what our goals will be and how we’ll make it there. Don’t dwell on your past mistakes towards your original plans, look forward to the future and what you can accomplish.
Getting all A’s and B’s means having motivation without motivation college becomes a strong for example getting up every morning to go to class or even have the energy to finish your homework soon depletes and in time is becoming a struggle and also barrier get overcome. My last short term goal would be coming to class on time ready to learn and take good notes. Waking up every morning becomes tiring feeling sluggish because all you want to do is sleep and eat let’s be honest no one wants to come to class at 8 to here a professor lecture on things I may or may not remember. As painful as that is I know if I stick it out and do what is told in that class I will be successful.
A couple ways of making sure that I have a successful high school career is by completing all of my assignments when I’m absent. Another way is by asking for help when I need it, and ask questions for things that I don’t understand. Lastly, I plan to stay after school to do missing assignments, and maintain my grades. I’m planning to take an 8th period class and apply for summer school to hopefully get ahead on my credits or catch up on the credits that I’m
I can’t believe we made it through the first quarter of our freshman year of high school! It has been very eventful and surprising, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds. My literature class has been full of new books and writing techniques that will surely help me in the future. Even after the first quarter, I think my writing had definitely improved. I believe my personal narrative is a great example of how I have grown and improved as a writer.
Hi, it’s you, but younger. I am writing this letter so you can remember what you were like as a Freshman. Hopefully I haven’t changed too much in the past 4 years. Part 1: Me, Now: My goals are to graduate high school with good grades in all my classes.
