After taking these five quizzes and reading throughout the internet and the textbook I have learned a lot about political philosophy. I am still not 100% sure what party I am most likely to side with but I have some more clarity. I am confident that with the knowledge I have gained through these quizzes and through the discussions we have in class that I will have a more precise decision by the end of the year.
In the matter of liberal, conservative, or moderate, I would say that I am a moderate. In the matter of affirmative action I side with the conservatives. I believe that it is in the best interest for a company to hire the person that is best for the job. I don’t think that race or gender have any role in someone's work ethic. I would

I found out during these quizzes that I most closely relate to the modern whig party but am more on the democratic side of the spectrum. I believe in the democratic view of campaign finance because I think that lobbyists have too much influence in elections. I believe that when when a person is financed by big businesses and people with a lot of money they will not listen to the people as much as their financiers. I agree with the democratic party when it comes to social security. When a person is giving money to the government with the understanding that they will get in back in retirement I believe they should get that money. I understand that because the older population is growing fast and the government can't afford to pay back all social security. I would think it best if people privately dealt with their social security. I would also side with the democrats in their ideals in big cities and heavily populated areas. When cities are well kept they become more inviting and produce a better economy in the city. I also think it is important to make sure that the cities are safe for their …show more content…
I spend a lot of time with my grandparents. My grandma used to be a strong democrat, but has become more moderate over the past ten years. My grandpa, on the other hand, is a very conservative republican. My grandma comes from a conservative and republican but she went to law school at duke and I think she gained a lot of her political views through that. My grandpa grew up in the country in Kansas in a conservative family and has carried those views with him throughout his life. While I am with them I get to see both sides of the spectrum and I think that is why I am more moderate. My nuclear family has some political views, but they tend to come from unbacked sources. My mom will believe almost anything she reads. Because I have been raised in church I have a lot of views that tend to be more
The seven most recognized political parties were: Federalist, Jeffersonian Republicans Democratic-Republicans, Nation Republican, Democrats, Whigs, Republicans, Prohibition, Populist, and Socialist. (343) The first two parties were the Federalist (1788-1816) versus the Jeffersonian Republicans democratic-republicans (1790-1824). The Federalist platforms were for the New England merchants, taxes, fees, creation of a bank and develop a new relationship with Britain. Jeffersonian Republicans was against taxes and fees for the merchants and wanted to create friendship with France (354).
Rebuilding the Grand Old Party We were all in. As president of the local Young Republicans chapter, I made the executive decision to shift our entire political operation (all five active members) to support a longshot political novice. We were committed to working for Republican nominee Sarah Davis in her bid to become the State Representative for southwest Houston. It seemed clear to me that Sarah Davis represented the future of the Party: a refreshing young candidate eager to listen to the concerns of the next generation, a successful female lawyer ready to alter the perception of a Texas politician, a self-described “rational Republican” willing to buck her Party’s establishment in support of progressive policy prescriptions.
I personally feel I am more of a Democrat than a Republican. American Politics The two major political parties of the United States are the Democrats and the Republicans. There are also third parties such as the Constitution party, the Green party, the Independent party, and the Libertarian party. The Democratic and the Republican Party constantly compete with each other trying to promote their political ideals and searching the means for maintaining their continuous political leadership.
My Political Compass Economic Left/Right: -6.0 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -3.08. Taking this class and learning more on what separates the political parties’. I may need to reconsider the party I have claimed myself to be. I do not think I would have changed my votes from the past years.
As most Faith and Family, I am conservative too about several issue. For instance, I am against abortion and support marriage and children. I believe
There are five main political parties, Democrats, Republicans(past), Republicans(present), Federalists(past), and the (possible) Third Party. I would choose the Democratic party. First, Democrats are typically accepting of diversity, and believe in second chances. Next, they often believe in helping those in need and people trying to find their way. To begin, Democrats believe in second chances, and are accepting of diversity.
Based on my demographic profile I would expect myself to be liberal as I am a young black protestant female. The key factors that influenced my location on the spectrum are my race, gender, religion, geographic location and my age. Women tended to be liberal for they believe that they should be the one to have the authority to decide issues that consider their body. They tend to be prochoice they tend to support the humanity and pride of all pregnant people in deciding whether they carry a pregnancy to term, how they give birth, and whether they parent the child they give birth to . More so they are firm believers of equal pay and marriage equality, these are political ideologies that are liberal in nature.
At the start of America as we know it today, George Washington, our nation’s first president shared his opinion on the formation of political parties and how he believe they would tear up the nation and do more harm than good. Against Washington’s wishes two political parties came to rise; the Federalists and the Anti-Federalists, would be later known as Democrats and Republicans. Although these two parties agree on topics such as good schools, healthy families, safe streets and a sound economy, there are details in which the two parties do not see eye to eye. Republicans are commonly characterized as right-leaning and conservative. Direction leaning refers to how conservative or liberal a party is.
I enjoyed a great intellectual support network of professors and activists who weren't tied to any sectarian organizations and who didn't adhere to dogmatic ideologies. Most importantly, I was allowed time to grow. People, particularly those who were informing my politics, didn't bombard me with feelings of guilt or ignorance because of my lack of knowledge and political skills. They loaned me books and documentaries; we had conversations and spent time with each other. We built long-lasting bonds and trust.
They were supported by urban workers, westerners, and southerners who did not own slaves. Whigs however supported nationalism, and the government funding of what was considered “internal improvements” by them. The party eventually collapse due to shifting ideologies from The Compromise of 1850, as well as members splitting apart to from the Republican Party. A major issue at this time was states rights vs. that of national government as well as the issue of slavery in the Whigs party. The third political era was that of the Democrats and the Republicans in which they were evenly matched.
I can, at times, be very conservative myself, but I am mostly neutral. Even though I call myself neutral I did feel strongly about equal pay and the wage gap, as well as
I know for a fact that I am a modern liberal. The reason I know this because since the 2012 presidential election, I have consistently stayed informed about political matters and have learned my stances on certain issues. I believe that the government should get involved with the lives of people. One example of that is to have protection of people in certain classes. Many people would be discriminated against if we had not passed laws barring it.
Taking an online quiz to determine what political ideology or Canadian party you identify with is irresponsible in my opinion; it allows people to circumvent actual research and rational thinking by presenting multi-faceted issues through very broad concepts. You answer simple questions without having background knowledge on many of the questions, and are placed somewhere on a scale that supposedly reflects your beliefs. The intrinsic nature of ideologies is to combine ideas into a framework which reflects the views of the holder of that ideology1, which makes it very difficult to put someone into a binary ideology based on simplistic answers with no real normative considerations. I found that my quiz results were not very accurate in determining
To me, my political belief does not drop me into one single category; it puts me into several different groups. For example, I agree with the statist beliefs of high government control over the economy and individual freedom (i.e. gun control and drugs), but I disagree with their attempt to oppose diverse lifestyles. I understand the conservative statement of
When I began this assignment my political ideology was Republican. My political ideology is still Republican, but I have learned that I have some Democratic qualities. Republicans are family and religious based. The Democratic side believes more in terms of letting immigrants be treated as equal as us. I agree with that unlike the Republican party, they believe that immigrants should not come into the U.S and that we should be treated higher than them.
