Throughout my time in high school I have participated in numerous activities from sports to volunteer work to actual work. Sports was one of my favorite extracurricular activities that came after school because it was a time for me and my teammates to really create that bond between each of us and become like a family. I will play softball throughout all four years of high school. Last year, we made it to the playoffs. Being one of the older girls on the team I knew I needed to get my teammates excited so we could win by talking to the girls and playing music on the way to our game. However, we did not make it to the next round of playoffs, but it made us stronger as teammates because we saw how much each of us wanted to win that game. When I’m not at …show more content…
Last year I got my first job in retail. Typically, I would check people out or do inventories. I really enjoyed the job, but it became too much between my school work and my family. I worked there for about seven months and then I decided to end my time there. A few months later, I got a new job being a nanny for family with two kids. Still to this day, I still work for the same family. I really enjoy being a nanny. On the side of being a nanny, I do side jobs working as a babysitter. I love being a babysitter and helping out families who need me. I help the children with their homework, make them dinner, play with them, and more. I love working with children because of how fun and enjoyable it is. Volunteering opportunities are the ones that make me who I am. I love being apart of my softball team and working, but volunteering really makes me the happiest. I know that what I am doing is going to a good cause and is going to help good
I started going back to what I was really passionate about, Interior Designing. There were two people in my life that made me want to be a Dental Hygienist; my cousin Angie and a church friend, Lacey. Dental Hygienists meet the needs of the patients by working cooperatively with the dentist and
At night, I was responsible for sorting driver materials, and cleaning the office. My position at Spee Dee delivery gave me skills I can use in my future occupation such as communication and organization. At the moment, I have received a camp counselor position at Easter Seals Iowa. This organization hosts a summer camp for children with either a physical or intellectual disability. This summer I will be a camp counselor, so I will be responsible for four children and I will be required to work with the children and make sure they have fun.
I was making good money and I loved everyone I worked with. I started softball in the fall which was off season but we still practiced four days a week. Since I was at school four days a week it was very hard for me to be at work. I started working less and less which was okay at first, then spring came around and we have softball practice in the middle of the day six days a week.
Additionally, sports are extremely important in building one’s character through hard work, learning to work with others on a team and by learning how to cope with the joy of winning and the inevitability of losing. One thing to know about any sport is that there is no free ride. You earn recognition, all your playing time, and a starting position through hard work. I grew up playing all kinds of different
Despite the grief I had to deal with on a daily basis, I loved my job, mainly because I loved ceratopsians, and my job let me work with baby ceratopsians. It was a dream come true. Another plus was that one of my friends from my previous job, Barry, worked at Jurassic World too. I didn't get to see
I became a chair side assistant until the employee came back from maternity. While doing chair side I only did the simple tasks because I was most comfortable doing them. Although the doctor himself was pushing me further because he thought I would be great at it. During her maternity leave they did tell me that if I wanted to continue with it that I would have to go to school for it. I declined the offer only because I wanted to be a dental hygienist.
Narrative: I moved to Kansas City, Kansas seven years ago. It all started when I was in 6th grade with these girls. I was a different race then them. They thought it would be cool to mess and try to get rid of the white girl. One day, they decided to try everything they possibly can to get me kicked out.
I worked with young children in the resource room with the staff that included teachers, special needs assistants and an occupational therapist, who routinely visits the school. I found the experience immensely rewarding to see the progress the children made in such a short space of time. I was able to see and discuss the different exercises that the occupational therapist used with the children in order for them to make progress. This gave me a great insight into the work environment and daily tasks of an occupational therapist and it made me realise that I had the personality traits and abilities that suited this career
A: I’m pretty sure the fact that I absolutely dreaded going to my first desk job out of college was the main determining factor. I worked for almost a year at a job I just despised! It was about 8 months in that I began coaching high school track & field after work. Being outside with the kids was so awesome compared to being indoors taking calls from disgruntled customers. Q: What societal impacts do you notice about your profession?
Work with children Throughout my high school and college years, I have had several experiences with children that have all played a part in shaping my love for working with children. During high school, I spent two summers nannying for two young school aged children. Working with these siblings really made me realize how much fun I have working with children and watching them grow. Once I came to college, I started another babysitting job working with two four year old twin girls.
In the duration of my middle school years, I maintained excellent grades, except I had just one issue that held me back from a satisfying life. That issue was the fact that friends came very hard to me in my middle school years. Before my struggles at my middle school, Trafton, I had a very productive social life in the Elementary school I attended, Roberts Elementary. Here, it was very easy to make friends and have a great social life, since no hard work was required as a kid. Middle school, however, was a great challenge for me.
It was getting closer to start actually working with strangers and real residents. This was my first real job. It was out of my comfort zone to actually help someone and get in their personal space. I was afraid I would do something wrong. What I learned working in the nursing home was you had to have a lot of patience and I also learned to appreciate older people
I ended up getting a position as a case manager for transition age youth who had disabilities. I loved it. I thrived. It ended up combining elements of education that I love such as mentoring with the social/human service side. Unfortunately life happened and I lost the job.
In high school there are many sports and activities to choose from. At my high school not many girls chose to play tennis, but that didn’t stop me. I played on the varsity team from freshman year to senior year, winning the conference championship two years in a row and got fourth place in the sectional tournament. Although it brought be success it seriously changed my life in many ways. Playing tennis gave me confidence; it brought me to Lewis and Clark and gave me lifelong friends.
My parents both have stuck with the same jobs for years. Seeing this made me learn that once you have something you’re good at you have to maintain it and even though it may not be the best job you still are able to show how good of a work ethic you
