A goal that I set for myself in the past that I did not successfully accomplish would be to complete another (third) marathon. I had set out to finish three and I have only done two to date. I could say the reason is because we moved and I haven’t had the opportunity to run, but really it’s about commitment. I am not ready to commit to the training schedule quite yet. An example of a goal I did accomplish was the finishing the first two marathons. The first marathon I completed was the Seattle Rock n Roll marathon. My sister in law and I trained together for that marathon in 2010 and I completed it, but boy did I learn a lot through trial and error! First, I learned to start slow! I also try to admit where I can do better. So, in this particular instance, I signed up for another marathon! This time however, I signed up with a local group of runners that helped me stay accountable to training with a workout plan. I entered my second marathon in the fall of 2011 in Victoria, BC. It was the Goodlife Fitness Marathon and I finished in 5 hours and 17 minutes. It was about a 40 minute improvement from the first marathon. That is not a fast time necessarily, but the areas that I needed to improve on, I did. and it was a lot of fun. The greatest thing about running or walking a marathon is that finishing is the accomplishment. Getting to the finish line in less time than before, is icing on the
