Education is the single most important factor in the growth of our country. In my eyes, college education acts as the key to a successful and prosperous future. These days, a degree is not something I can opt out of or put off; it is something that is absolutely essential for my success. Since I was a child, I’ve always had an insatiable thirst for knowledge and been naturally inquisitive. As a high school student who is currently enrolled in the collegiate program and trying to obtain an A.A degree, my sole focus is my future. I am now at a stage in my life where the decisions I make will define my success. There are many social factors that have pushed me to further my education such as securing career opportunities, a higher salary and expanding my knowledge and skills for life.
Getting a bachelor’s or higher degree increases the chance of career opportunities and job security. In today’s day and age, the workforce is highly competitive, and companies are requiring more and more people to have higher education than anything else. Earning a college degree means I’m more likely to earn more money throughout my career than if I only had a high school education. In all career fields, a degree ensures higher pay but in the career field I wish to pursue, a bachelor’s degree just in my first year of service would raise my pay about $30,000 more than enlisting with no degree. As a child I was raised by a single mother, who did everything to make ends meet but sometimes that meant we had to go without. Growing up without helps drive me to gain my degree in order to provide for my family in excess. I want to make sure that when I have children, they will have everything they need and that they will never have to experience going without, and a college degree is the only way I can achieve
