Intro sentence- Doctors and sports teams are continually finding an increase of concussions in modern day athletes because of the lack of rules and regulations in contact sports.
A. Concussions area a form of brain trauma that continually have a devastating effect on athletes.
B. Despite the rules and regulations in sports the rate of concussions in athletes is still on the rise
C. The long term effects of concussions are extremely tragic and haunts many retired athletes.
D. Although concussions are almost impossible to avoid, the concussion crisis needs to be acted upon so that the future generation can stay safe while having fun.
Thesis-The preventative measures put in place to protect athletes are not strong enough due to the increasing amount of concussions in contact sports.

Intro- With the concussion crisis on the rise it is important to bring awareness to the athletes who have been impacted by concussions and they daily struggles they are now faced with.
A. Long term affects include depression, Alzheimer’s, epilepsy and Parkinson’s disease.
B. Athletes have a strong desire to play and ultimately return to the game too soon after a concussion, even knowing the dangers they face.
C. Gino Odjick was a fighter for the Vancouver Canucks back in 1998. “The 43-year-old said there was very little information about the dangers of sports-related head trauma when he first started playing hockey. As a result, he played while concussed and is now suffering the long-term consequences” (http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/former-nhler-gino-odjick-speaks-on-concussion-dangers-1.2515082) Even to this day, Gino says that some days he feels like he is walking around in a fog, even though his career ended almost 20 years ago.
