No matter how independent an individual may seem, at sometime in his life he will need to rely on the help of others.In the film the power of one ,directed by John G. Avildsen, the main character, PK would not have been as confident or successful if he had not the help of his mentors. Michael in the film lost boys directed, by Joel Schumacher, was in grave danger of becoming a vampire,when,with the help of his brother Sam,and frog brothers, he was able to defeat the forces of evil. The directors suggest that no individual can get through all of life's problems without needing the help of a mentor/teacher. P.K spoke to Nanny about his bedwetting, Nanny sent P.K to the local medicine man Dabula Manzi. Dabula Manzi taught P.K about courage with two chickens. P.K brought his chicken,mother courage back to school with him when he returned to the afrikaner boarding school. Mother courage was P.K’s only friend while attending the afrikaner boarding school. The afrikaner students were supporters of Hitler, P.K was English, Hitler hated the english and so did the students. Doc took P.K to live with him in savannah, Doc taught P.K about life, using nature as a classroom.Doc was sent to an english prison, while in prison P.K met his future boxing coach,Geil peit taught P.K how to box and how “to not have a brain is not a sin, but to have a brain and not use that is a sin”.
