In the United States, some factors of obtaining success in life can be determined by racial status and where they reside. Unfortunately, some minority groups do not get the opportunity to access the benefits of a stable community due to racial residential segregation. This process was created from racial prejudice to isolate minorities from white homeowners. Sociologists such as Gregory Squires, Charis E. Kubrin, and Camille Zubrinsky Charles have created theories to how segregation hurts the community. They discovered that its effects the communities social/ economic wealth and it mostly hurts the African American community. Racial Residential segregation is harmful because it allows prejudice to continue in society. I believe that way to resolve it is by eliminating prejudice in the job market. In my opinion, if employers change policies such as hiring procedures and attempt to equalize pay gap, impoverished communities will be able to grow socially and economically. Meaning, employers should attempt to hire a person based on their qualification not on race. To reiterate, many companies are willing to offer jobs to non-qualifying applicants based on their race instead of hiring whom they need. Once that is fixed, people would not have to struggle as much for jobs. Also, once employers end their job prejudice, they should attempt to narrow the wage gap. If people are working the same position they should be paid the same. A narrow wage gap will allow people to have more money, which in return can help their families, and help the cities economy because the family will have extra money to spend on themselves. I believe these subtle changes can make a significant difference because people will be able to use their success to find new ways to help the
