Kelly walked over to some other students that were on the next row and said, “They are some wigger lovers”. This is a term I was unfamiliar with, but amazingly close to sounding like” nigger” lover. I was insulted, she was trying to talk about me personally on the ground that, the people surrounding me weren 't black. More than likely she was saying it directly for me to hear, and this made upset, I walked over in a rage to confront her. “Kelly what the hell did she just say? What a lover,” she said it again, “wigger “and gave a laugh at this time. I didn 't think nothing was funny at all she said, “you know when a white person trying to act black”. Kelly looked as if she had no remorse for what she said, so I had to give her an example I said ” how would you like if I call you trailer trash” I knew that Kelly lived in the trailer park in demo. Kelly was angry and said “I live in Lomita” I told her, “it doesn 't matter if it 's Lomita or Torrance, it’s still a trailer park! You are considered trailer trash in my eyes.” She responded, “Everyone in Hawthorne is in on welfare” I told her to speak facts, I never been on welfare, neither has my mother, but it 's the fact that you live in a trailer park and are white

I read the book, “The Hate You Give”, by Angie Thomas. This book is about a sixteen year old African American girl named Starr Carter who moves between two worlds: Garden Heights, her neighborhood prone to gang violence where she was born and raised and the suburban school, Williamson Prep, which she attends as only one of a handful of black kids. The uneasy balance between them is made more complicated when she confronts the exact situation her father warned her about her entire life. Starr unwillingly becomes the only witness to the fatal shooting of her best friend, Khalil, by a police officer. She wants to use her voice on behalf of justice for Khalil, but what she does or does not say could upend her community and endanger her family.
Diane Cole believes when dealing with racial slurs or offensive ethnic jokes, it is best to speak up. Miss Cole shows these beliefs in her essay called "Don't Just Stand There". Miss Cole believes it is best to do it in a private and calm atmosphere. Even though lashing out and responding with anger is most people's initial reaction. Lashing out is normally ineffective and does not solve the problem, according to Miss Cole.
“You can make someone go from homeless to home-owner with a haircut,” so although the barbering and cosmetic industry’s role in society is not a major role in society, it is an important role none the less. However, not just anybody can practice these services so it is important to understand educational requirements, job responsibilities, career advancements, and salary expectations for this profession if one wishes to pursue a career in this field. In order to be a cosmetologist you must meet certain high school and college education requirements. In Odessa, cosmetology courses are provided at Odessa Community College and provide the skills and knowledge needed to pass the TDLR (Texas Department of Licensing and Registration) exam and fir

• Street Cleaner/African American Woman on Cell Phone: she is sweeping the red brick sidewalk in constitution Plaza [I assess her is a maintenance person by her bright green fluorescent vest, and the broom and dustpan she uses to sweep the street]. I have always enjoyed the art of cosmetology because it helps bring out people's features, makes them feel more confident, and there's always different looks for everyone. I remember when I would get my hair done, being so intrigued by the art that came from it. How changing the color of someone's hair can change there whole look, or how a simple haircut can bring out certain face features. When I first started doing hair and makeup, I was not very good, but the more I kept practicing the better I got. On the other hand I have always been pretty good with doing hair.
This was an example of how they do not change their classes until their training begins. There was another rule for when someone disrupted their class, that they would have to deliver an apology phrase to their class, and then the class had to say that they accepted their apology. For example, Asher
Williamson Starr holds her tongue when people piss her off so nobody will think she’s the ‘angry black girl.’ Williamson Starr is approachable… Williamson Star is nonconfrontational. Basically, Williamson Star doesn’t give any reason to call her ghetto” (71). Rather than internalizing the racism, she acknowledges the racial stereotypes and sacrifices the expression of her cultural background and unified identity to achieve inclusion and disprove the notion that all African Americans act a certain way.
Racism: Should It Be The Reason To Abandon Students? Freedom Writers written and directed by Richard LaGravenese , based on the book, The Freedom Writers Diary, by The Freedom Writers with Erin Gruwell .“At 16, I’ve probably witnessed more dead bodies than a mortician,” says a Woodrow Wilson High School student, before matter-of-factly describing a life in which gang and domestic violence are everyday occurrences.1 Racism , that is, basing on racial, people are divided into different social classes. Racism not only be the reason to prejudice students, but also be the root of violence. As Eva says: “schools are like the city and the city is just like a person, all of them divided into separate sections, depending on tribes.”
During the summer after my first year of college, I spent my time interning at a company call Swimsuits for All; an online bathing suit company for plus sized women. My time at the company opened my eyes to all aspects of the fashion industry- from the business side to the actual designing of the bathing suits. I made sure that I was well versed in every part of the company. I mainly worked in product development and was able to experience first hand what the fashion industry was all about. I helped pick out patterns for the up and coming lines, made inspiration boards and even helped design the actual bathing suits for the editorial pieces.
Later that day, with this sermon thumping through my mind, I went to Gloria’s Nail Salon in Alston because my sister had sent me a Groupon for my birthday. I had never been there before but acted like I knew what I was doing—like I always kept up with these things. Once in the salon, I sat in a big, leather chair in the middle of the room and sunk my feet into a small tub of hot water. When I looked around the room, I had never been so aware of myself. I was the only white person in the salon.

“Oh, God, look, there is a pubic hair in my brush. Oh, no wait, wait, that’s just one of Rochelle’s little nappy hairs,” said Laura. When Rochelle asks Laura why she relentlessly teases her, Laura responds, “Because I don’t like Negroids. Sorry.” This is one of the scenes in the hit 1996 film “The Craft” which has a storyline in which a white character named Laura racially harasses an African American classmate named Rochelle.
