The Renaissance was a rebirth of ancient Greek and Roman culture. There was a renewed interested in classical texts. Key ideas influenced art, architecture, and new inventions. There was a renewed interest in Greek and Roman texts during the Renaissance. The first book was printed in Mainz, Germany in 1455. The spread of printing is related to the spread of ideas and knowledge. Since, books are available that means literacy increased, according to Document 8. Some educated people are living in darkness, because they believe that ancient texts are worthless, according to Petrarch. In the document the letters state that a lot can be learned from ancient texts; which reflects Renaissance values. This is a big breakthrough in literacy and knowledge
The Renaissance era was one of tremendous modifications in European archives. (Background) The Renaissance, alias Middle Ages, stretches from around 500 CE to about the 1300’s, illiteracy was omnipresent in Europe at the time. Over 85 percent of Europe’s population consists of peasants, alias serfs. (Slaves who worked for the Lord and his estate.)
The newspaper, an invention of the Renaissance, is a general source of knowledge for many. The Renaissance, lasting 300 years, has been defined as a time of significant change, development, and adaptations in europe. The Renaissance changed man's view of the world by creating more detailed and reciozniable art (doc A), and bringing new religious ideas, that changed how religion looked at practice (doc B). Because of more detailed and recognizable art man's view of the world has changed.
The Renaissance One of the main ideas that characterized Renaissance art and literature was one which was interest and appreciation for the classical period. The classical period was a time of Ancient Greece and Rome. It was the pinnacle of human achievement. I can see one main idea in the classical period because in a letter written by Niccolo Machiavelli, he read classical books that made him happy. He goes home imagining him entering ancient courts of ancient men while he was reading the classical books.
The Renaissance era was the end of the Middle Ages and was the beginning of the contemporary period. It was a time where cultural movements flourished and the intellectual basis—humanism—arose. Humanism was a movement that believed that the human mind had limitless potential. It gave humans more freedom rather than following dogmas and superstitions. It was the start of the more scientific and logical age, based on evidence rather than beliefs and religion.
The start of the Renaissance was filled with horror and death, but by the end everyone started to believe in Humanism and in themselves. When Humanism started art, literature, astronomy, and anatomy started to evolve and become more and more true (ren. packet). Before the Renaissance started to evolve everyone thought that they were full of sin and that everyone should die (doc. B).Humanism influenced people during the Renaissance in at least two ways such as literature and astronomy. Literature was one of the things that were seen differently during the Renaissance because of Humanism.
The first reason the Dark Ages were not as dark as the name claims for them to be, is because during the Dark Ages there were tons of advances in education. The information in Doc A that claims “Europe suffered a decline in commerce and manufacturing, in education, in literature and the arts and in almost all that makes possible a high civilization.” is completely biased. And that the Dark Ages “Did not support learning” (Background Information) which is completely untrue. During the Dark Ages, there were still people learning and teaching. One of them being a monk named Richer, who “went to the town of Chartres, in what is today France, to study.”

The year, was 1350. Things in Florence Italy began to change. People began to become more and more self-sufficient, and started to become educated. The population was made up of about 85% serfs. But, some of the freed srefs began to migrate and pick up activities such as trade.
Ha Nguyen AP Euro Mrs. Broffman DBQ The Renaissance, which is a french word for “ “, had begun to take way in the fourteenth century, Europe, where it influence were still spreading until the late sixteenth century. Study of the classicals, mostly the Greco-Romans, were increasingly popular among the people of Europe; humanism was then starting to take shape. In the Renaissance the values and purposes of education was emphasized by humanists, who wants to use it to improve society, economic increased, and above all, to be able to restore religious beliefs.
The Medieval Ages were a time where many things like romance, art, music, poetry, disease and death all thrived. Everyone in this time period had a different point of view on it. Some thought it was a golden age, some thought it was an age of feudalism, and some also thought it was a dark age. Yes, this time may have had its ups, but it also had many, many downs. Its darkest times consisted of Barbarian invasions, death, and wars.
The middle ages brought very few books because the monks would spend month’s hand writing copies of religious writings which made the books immensely expensive. Document B states that “Man think sin in the beginning full sweet, which in the end causeth thy soul to weep, when the body lieth in clay” (Doc B) that means that if you were to commit a sin it will catch up to you in the future and you will have to pay the price. That quote basically sums up the thought on how the middle ages worked. The difference on how literature changed the way man thought during the renaissance was because people realized they didn’t have to always right about religion, they were open to write about anything they wanted to which made them smarter and important. Science during the renaissance played a big impact on how people looked at the universe and the environment we live in.
Man’s view of the world changed greatly in a blink of an eye during the Renaissance, and for good reasons. The Middle Ages (which stretched from about 500 CE to 1350 CE), were a time of little schools, widespread illiteracy, and the Catholic Church ruling everything in Europe, meaning almost everyone had to look up to them to explain the world. During this time period, many of the population were peasant farmers named serfs under the rule of a lord who they worked for. However, At the backend of this period, the world started to change. Improved farming methods meant serfs depended less on their lords, meaning they could gain freedom and migrate to different towns to do different jobs such as being a banker or merchant.
The Renaissance was the rebirth of classical Greek and Roman art, literature, and culture. New philosophies formed such as individualism, the idea that humans are capable of great things. This was accompanied by the wish to spread Christianity, and a spirit for riches. With these desires and advancements in ships, a new age of adventure was introduced. From sailing to new worlds and trading across the globe, the Age of Exploration brought riches and destruction.
The Renaissance was an artistic movement that emerged 2,000 years after the Greeks, they took inspiration from original Greek
