Greek and Roman architecture both demonstrate forms of classical architecture. They both strongly focused on appearance and decorating each design delicately. The Greeks interest in precise and proportion in their buildings went on to influence Roman architects. In the article “Greek Influence On Roman” it says “The Romans were tremendous builders, engineers, and architects in their own right, but in the course of conquering the western world, they were heavily influenced aesthetically by the Greeks. The prodigious use of the Ionic, Doric, and Corinthian Orders is the most obvious example. One common type of building found in the forum of any Roman city was the basilica, a hall used for transacting business and legal matters. It developed from the Greek stoa, but was usually fully enclosed rather than enclosed on one side. The hall contained colonnades on the inside, which helped to organize and divide the interior space.” This example demonstrates how Greeks always had a strong influence toward Roman designs. Although Romans tried taking their errors to modify now it still had a big aspect on the later designs. A stoa is open at the entrance containing columns and can follow the Doric order to decorate the side of the building. They both commonly constructed their buildings from marble or limestone but sometimes Romans perfected their arts with concrete as Greeks did with wood.
