Great Britain lost a large amount of money because of the colonies during this event, and in the end they lost the Colonies. The Colonists were punished for wasting Great Britain’s money, so they decided to fight back. The Boston Tea Party also caused a war and earned the Colonies their freedom.
It showed that the citizens are the ones with the power instead of the government and that the government must listen to their needs. One good source to find information about the Boston Tea Party would be the book Defiance of the Patriots which goes into detail about the events and is written by Benjamin L. Carp who is a graduate of the University of Virginia and a history professor at Brooklyn College. This book would give a lot of insight into the Boston Tea Party and a student could use the author’s point of view to enforce their own beliefs about the event. However, another good source that a student could find online is peer reviewed essays or academic articles reviewing the book.
