Should college athletes be paid?
Imagine getting a free scholarship, and playing for a team and heightening your chances of playing a professional sport. Well, college athletes have this opportunity. The first reason is that according to the NCAA, it provided 3.6 billion dollars in athletic scholarships. The next reason is Not all college athletes will make it pro, only a few so they should take advantage of the resources they have to learn. The final reason is that Student Athletes Would Value Payment Over Education.

According to the NCAA for every 36,011 college baseball players, only 8,002 are eligible to play professionally each year. 1,217 would be draft picks, but only 791 will be drafted yearly, meaning about 9.9% of college baseball players will go pro. Also, this is the largest likelihood in NCAA sports. One more thing is that in football they have an even lower number of people that will go pro.
The final reason is that students would value payment over education. students would want more money than education, and the real reason for college is to learn. Also, they would focus on their sport rather than their grades. Some college athletes might think that their celebrities and college athletes must remember that college is for education, not sports.
Some colleges profit unfairly from the work of college athletes. The NCAA reported over $1.06 billion in revenue in 2017 Alone. In 2018, Mark Emmert, who is the president of the NCAA, was paid more than $2.7 million. Nine different NCAA executives were paid more than $500,000 in 2018, with one paid more than $1.3 million. so college athletes do the work but the school and the NCAA profit
