Arming Teachers Is Not The Solution To Stop School Shootings It’s only been about 12 weeks in 2018 and there have been 17 school shootings where students and teachers were killed or injured. This basically means that there’s a shooting every week. Of shootings perpetrated by minors at primary and secondary schools and for which the source of the firearm was known, more than half of the kids obtained the gun at home likely because an adult did not store it locked and unloaded. In all, these incidents resulted in 59 deaths and 124 non-fatal gunshot injuries. Because of all these school shootings, there have been people saying that teachers should protect their students, but in teachers’ contract, they didn’t sign up to do that. Teachers should not be allowed to carry weapons on school campuses because students will feel uncomfortable, it would be expensive for teachers and will require training and students could find the gun and start a shooting. …show more content…

If students completely trust their teachers, they may be comforted but many students rarely feel that level of comfort with every teacher in the building (Singer). This proves that not all students get along with every teacher there is in their school, there’s many that don’t even talk to their teachers at all. When you have two people shooting at each other, bystanders get caught in the crossfire. This is not a good environment for children (Singer). This means that students could accidently get in the middle of the two people that have a gun and there’s a possibility that the student can get injured.
