Some similarities and differences between Trump’s impeachments and other presidential impeachments are: Trump’s impeachments are more frequent, recent, and unprecedented than other presidential impeachments. They occurred within a span of 13 months, during his first and last years in office. They also made him the first president to be impeached twice and the first president to be impeached after leaving office. No other president has faced impeachment more than once or after their term ended. The previous impeachments of Johnson, Nixon, and Clinton occurred at different times and for different reasons. Johnson was impeached in 1868, near the end of his term, for violating a congressional law. Nixon faced impeachment in 1974, in his second term, for his role in the Watergate scandal. The previous impeachments of Johnson, Nixon, and Clinton were less controversial, contentious, and consequential. They involved more clear-cut cases of presidential misconduct and more consensus on the impeachment process and outcome. They also had less impact on the political landscape and public opinion. Johnson’s impeachment did not affect his term or his party’s prospects. Nixon’s impeachment inquiry led to his resignation and his party’s defeat. Clinton’s impeachment did not affect his popularity or his party’s
The Watergate Scandal eventually led to President Nixon’s resignation from office. Before his re-election, a group aptly coined CREEP, illegally broke into the Democratic National Committee office to steal information to use in the upcoming election. Nixon tried to cover up the incident by denying his involvement in the crime. His top aides, including his Vice President Spiro Agnew, resigned to avoid giving anything away that would connect Nixon to the Watergate Scandal. The only piece of evidence seemed to be Nixon’s recordings of all conversations had by him in the White House; however, Nixon refused to give up the tapes, claiming Executive Privilege.

Watergate, Clinton’s Impeachment, and the Iran-Contra Scandals all could have been avoided if people had just told the truth. This is an all-around good rule to follow. After having most of the evidence needed, the House of Representatives voted unanimously to impeach Nixon for obstruction of justice, abuse of power, criminal cover-up, and several violations of the Constitution. On the domestic aspect, citizens were beginning a new chapter in which they did not trust the government. Stemming back to Lyndon B Johnson and the Credibility Gap of the Vietnam War, the most recent, most devastating attitude change surrounded the Watergate Scandal and the aftermath. During Nixon’s presidency, he was attempting to bug the Democratic Party headquarters located in the Watergate Hotel. While his henchmen were placing the bugs, they were caught, thus causing a huge controversy amongst Americans. Although Nixon attempted to cover up his ties to the break in, it eventually came out that he ordered it to be done.
Eventually, when Nixon went to trial the judge asked him to hand over the tapes there were parts missing, which showed the country that he was covering up something. These tapes would show that Nixon had acknowledgement of the break-in a week before it even happened. The judge ended up convicting Nixon with three felonies, federal crime, abusing presidential powers, and keeping evidence. Furthermore, Nixon was forced to resign from the presidential seat and handing over the seat to Gerald Ford, who is the only president to not be elected as president

If the situation is serious then the president would be presented to the U.S Senate to decide if he should be impeached.
