Sir Isaac Brock is one of the hundreds of heroes in Canadian history. He had a really important role during one particular war. The War of 1812. This war was fought all over the world. Lower Canada, Upper Canada on the Great Lakes and the Atlantic and United States. The War of 1812 was a military conflict between the United States and Great Britain. This war resulted in a lot of deaths of young and elders. But soon after shooting each other, being cruel to one another, and shedding blood the War of 1812 came to an end. After signing the Treaty of Ghent there was peace once again. In 1814, the War of 1812 was finally declared to an end. Everybody was exhausted, and tired of running away from one another, and hiding from the bullets that were shot to hit them. In this war, many brave men and women played an important role and without them what we have today wouldn’t be possible. As I have mentioned before there was one really important person involved in this all Sir Isaac Brock. Sir Isaac Brock was born October 6,1769. In a small island of Guernsey (British Channel Islands). He was born into a rich family. Brock was the eighth son in his family and grew up with seven brothers. In 1810, Sir Isaac Brock was sent to Upper Canada to take charge of his whole colony’s defences. He was promoted major-general at this time. Soon after, Brock realized that it would be ten times easier to defend against the Americans only if had the cooperation of the First Nations. So, keeping this in mind Brock planned to capture Detroit and Michilimackinac. Detroit and Michilimackinac were strong American settlements. Brock decided to capture these places since this was something the First Nations wanted. All Americans to be cleared out. If he did what they wanted they would probably do something for him
