Equality is farther than most people realize. In the article “The Social Construction of Difference” by Allan G. Johnson published on February 20th, 2005, the author tells the truth behind this day in ages society. The world and how it’s order between each set of people is organized. The main point written by the author is that the most privileged category in today’s society is the white race. The author also states that males have a big advantage in society as well. With that being said, the author justifies why the white male is the most privileged class in the society that has been built. The consequences compared to many other races, and classes have a difference. With all the evidence the author presents, I do agree with his point of how our society has been built to give others an advantage over others within a different categorized group. One point the author claims is that when compared to African Americans, the white male has a lesser consequence threshold and a stronger advantage in social situations. Such as when the author makes the point “Nondisabled people can assume that they will fit in at work and in other settings without having to worry about being evaluated and judged according to preconceived notions and stereotypes about people with disabilities” (Allan G. Johnson #19) Another pint made being “Nondisabled people can ask for help without having to worry that people will assume they need help with everything” (Allan G Johnson #19). Allan G. Johnson supports his point that the difference in the status of an individual due to their situation exist. The barrier for a disabled individual is far greater when compared to a fully abled person when looked through the work aspect, or even when in a normal everyday
