Spanish is a very beneficial language to learn. For one if you're bilingual you will have better job opportunities rather than if you were monolingual. Just last year CNN Money named bilingualism as one of the biggest skill you could have while looking for your job.Studies have also shown that a person that knows more than one language can earn between five percent and twenty percent more money per hour than those who can only speak one language because they can talk to spanish speakers while some other employees can not. So it would look great on your resume. Another reason Spanish is beneficial to learn is that you can travel to different places that speak Spanish and know what they are saying. Personally the most beneficial reason why
In “Teach Them Spanish Early, Too”, Carlene Carmichael argues that a second language should be offered to Americans. Carmichael seeks equality for everyone and she wants the same opportunities of also being taught a second language. Children are learning English so other children should be taught Spanish. In addition, Carlene Carmichael states that she feels sorry that many Americans that are applying to jobs are at a disadvantage because they cannot speak Spanish. I agree with some of Carlene Carmichael’s arguments, but many qualifications listed do not require Spanish, the applicants just need to have experience working.
According to Effective Language Learning all around the world the most Spanish speakers are in Mexico, USA, Spain, Columbia, Argentina, Venezuela, and Peru. He evidence is connected to the reason because it shows how many people and all around the world speak Spanish. There are 29 million US occupants that are over 5 years old who speak Spanish at home. So that means kids are learning Spanish as toddlers and that how they are able to start
Rodriguez argues people should be encouraged to speak another language, as it will help a lot in many outside-world situations. Language should be something that brings many people all around the world together. Although, learning languages in America could be slightly
Growing up learning two languages may sometimes be difficult but it will benefit the person learning in many ways. Not only will learning two languages help in getting higher paying jobs, but it will give a better view of both cultures and their history. I agree with Alarid’s statement that Mexican Americans in the United States should learn both English and Spanish. Alarid shares his view on why it is important to learn English and Spanish. Being bilingual is only a way we can prosper in our society by being able to have a better understanding in communicating with our peers.
During my freshman and sophomore years of high school I took Spanish. It was a great experience to immerse myself in a different language and culture. I think every student in high school should take a language course because it makes for a better well rounded education. People who speak spanish as a main language are becoming more prominent in the United States, so it would be good to know at least the basics in case of an emergency. For example, I work at a Dunkin Donuts and sometimes someone who does not speak english with come in.
Also, people who are trying to learn a language are trying to become proficient in the language. Seeing an artist like Olmeca fluidly use both languages promotes people to learn a language. In this case, learning Spanish or any other language is important for both cultural diversity, and understand different languages. In the presentation, Olmeca explains that different barriers cause friction between groups. The friction causes groups people to turn against each other which is what the government wants.
I feel that it is important for children who do not speak English to learn it if they want to become prosperous in this country. It would also be beneficial for those who speak English to learn a second language. We have so many Spanish speaking individuals in our country that learning to speak their language could be beneficial for future generations to come. Children should also learn about other cultures
In research done by by Kelley and Kohnert (2012), 8-13 year-old Spanish-speaking ELL students were tested on their recognition and production of English vocabulary to provide evidence of a cognate advantage for Spanish-speakers. The study tested 30 typically developing children who spoke Spanish at home and English at school. The researchers used two vocabulary measures in the study. The first, PPVT III, measured students’ recognition of spoken vocabulary words (their receptive vocabulary) by asking students to choose one of four pictures that corresponded to a spoken vocabulary word. The second, EOWPVT, measured their production of a vocabulary word from a given picture (their expressive vocabulary).
In Mexico, my home country, I was able to successfully communicate with others and complete assignments just by the utilizing the Spanish language, but that was not the case on this side of the border. I had to learn a whole new language that seemed to be far different from my natal
When I moved to California eight years ago, I always asked myself “why do people think that because we speak Spanish we are from the same country and we are classified as Latinos?” at the beginning it was so offensive that people would ask me “Are you Latina from Mexico or EL Salvador?” I used to get so upset and tell them “No! I am from Ecuador and I am Hispanic”. Despite, the fact that Latinos and Hispanics speak and uses Spanish as their primary language for communication, this does not mean that we are all from the same country, share the same culture and food, and that the meaning of words are the same.
Having a second language in your background is so impactful on one’s life, providing them with more skills. This is the 21st century and having this skill helps an individual be
Some of the kids I observed only understood or spoke Spanish and some others only knew sign language. Since I only speak English I found it challenging but so rewarding
I just want to mention four most benefits your kid would have growing as a bilingual. First, little Laura will benefit emotionally by communicating her extended families. It is important for all of you to stay connected to your extended family and your heritage. In fact, children who can communicate fluently across their family languages tend to stay closer to the family and rely on them more for support. There are also practical benefits.
A post by the Washington Times argues that, “...official English would save billions in federal spending. The direct cost of translators and bilingual education alone are billions,”(Brice). While this is a pricey expense for the country, the benefits of people talking in their mother tongue exceed the cost. Almost everyone feels more comfortable talking and reading in their language. In addition, many understand words much more clearly in their mother tongue and this can prevent mistakes and
Why taking a second language can be helpful Learning a second language has many lifelong beneficial other than just understanding the language itself, mainly if learned at a young age. Learning a second language can be done more efficiently as a young kid, and can open up many doors for later in life while being mentally advanced. When it comes to learning a second language, the younger you start the easier you will begin to learn your second language. Younger brains learn much easier than older brains because the brain is designed for language learning to take place between birth and adolescence (the period following the onset of puberty during which a young person develops from a child into an adult).
