A teacher and parent survey will be used to help measure the effectiveness of the school educational program. I will have to ensure that every student and parent know that are important to the success of the school and their voices will be heard, by seeking feedback from the community. The strengths and weaknesses from the survey would be used to identify school goals, along with consensus building. Consensus building will allow for everyone voice to be
One strategy to help parents would be to conduct a workshop, or multiple session workshops, for parents in help them learn how to participate in their children’s learning process. It is also stated that schools must empower parents who may feel “less useful in school work due to lack of formal literacy skills” (Njeru, 2015). Many parents in low SES communities do not have the skills to work with their children at home. Classes should be held in order to teach the skills that parents need. Once parents are given the training that they need they can help their students succeed.
Establish a set of optimized, well-structured, and efficient communication processes at the College. Increased personal responsibility and leadership at all institutional levels. Protect the solid financial position and financial management of the College. Provide high quality customer services. (2019, December)
Students’ success is heavily influenced by this connection, and as a teacher it is my job to promote parent involvement in their student’s schooling. One way that I currently do that is through Class DoJo, which is an online program that helps create a positive community between teachers, students, and parents. When using Class DoJo students are rewarded points for demonstrating positive behaviors, values, and skills in the classroom. It also gives students and teachers a platform where they can share classwork with parents through videos and pictures. Parents and teachers can communicate through private messaging which can be translated through the website.
Board members participated in a strategic plan development process in January 2014. It included a review of the board’s vision of the program and the priorities set to meet the program’s needs for the next four years. The plan contains seven goals and a number of objectives under each goal. Although goals include parties responsible, they are missing measures to track over time and timeframes for completing. The board will have to revise the plan to meet this requirement.
However, they also mentioned different reasons for their lack of involvement. One parent, stated that the school have different opportunities for parents to be more involve with the school, but it is also the parents’ initiative to attend meetings “I do not know what else they can do because Jessica already said she makes the phone call and informs them of events that are coming up she sent them an email and that she also sends home a flyer with all the information of events and stuff that are happening she said that the only thing she noticed is that there are like 300 students here and every time they have a meeting there’s less than 20 parents, there’s less 20, so she said that’s its more parents involvement parents wanting to get involved because the information is there it’s given to them in different forms.” This participant believes it is the parent’s responsibility to get involve with the school, attend meetings, or participate in other school activities, since the school provide plenty of information and opportunities for parents to get involve with the school Another parent mentioned that their job schedule prevents them from getting involved. Therefore, school should arrange more meetings
I will explain, to you what is an organization. An organization is a social structure for a business, society, and association. It is also made to be a management structure of many different activities and responsibilities (Organization, 2017). Why do organizations need strategies? For one it is important.
Strategic Plan The foundation of this plan begins with human resources and branches into three key areas needing improvement: talent management system, overtime reduction, and renegotiation of the union contract. As you will notice from the strategy map below, the positive effects of these changes, support the organization’s strategic goal of profitability. Talent Management System
Parents of young children may not have the awareness or financial stability to provide early education exposure in lieu of starting school. Parents must invest in their child’s education. Reinforcing what was learned in school at home maintains the continuum of learning. Guiding and teaching responsibilities, for instance, doing homework, school clubs and sports fosters independent growth. Children and adolescents living in poverty go to school without proper nutrition.
These test scores show an immediate need for intervention and serious education gaps to close in order to meet the districts plan that all students are on grade level (The Denver Plan, 2013). For students to make adequate yearly progress showing growth and improvement, solid pedagogical practices and access to materials to reinforce learning must be available for the students. Best practices in education call for targeted instruction, focused learning objectives, and assessment of student mastery of the objectives (Cafarella, 2014; Thorvaldsen, Vavik, & Salomon, 2012). For those students who do not make adequate progress, the instructor must formulate a plan to address those students who did not demonstrate mastery through various assessment. The results of such assessments are shared with the students to remove the veil of secrecy surrounding progress and the meaning of the numbers from the assessments (Cafarella, 2014).
The students need to feel safe when they walk into my building that way they can perform at their highest level. Ensuring their safety and well-being will be my primary goal and I think reducing bullying and advocating
Chapter 4 The most commonly accepted contemporary framework for viewing parental involvement was inspired by the ecological model of Bronfenbrenner (1979, 1986) and designed from a social and organisational perspective (Epstein, 1992). It identifies three major contexts within which children develop and learn: the family, the school, and the community (see Figure). The Overlapping Spheres of Influence model recognises that there are some practices that family, school and community conduct separately and that there are others that they conduct jointly in order to influence the growth and learning of the child. According to Epstein, successful partnerships must be forged between these three spheres in order best to meet the needs of the child.
As a teacher, it is my responsibility to share information on the development of the child and have a clear and constant flow of dialogue with the family. This will enable both parties to deal with any issues that may arise within the family, school or community. It also my belief that parents should have an active part in their child’s learning and be able to lend a hand whenever necessary, and having open communication with them will allow this transparency and connection between home and school. The community is vital in ensuring that the facilities around the community and school is appropriate for the different children and families to live in and grow. A very good example of this successful collaboration is the Reggio Emilia approach in Italy.
Discussion. In this study, I investigated how schools are reaching out to CLD parents and guardians and what the key components are to effective parental involvement and outreach when forging partnerships with CLD families. The research I explored showed that by combing aspects of traditional and non-traditional approaches to EB parental involvement, teachers and parents can form effective partnerships to better their child’s educational experience. The first theme that emerged is that parental involvement must be meaningful.
