Little Paula is the only Mr. Wilson’s daughter. She was kidnapped while shopping with her mother at a shopping mall in Houston, TX. Few days later, Mr. Wilson left his house for breakfast at 8:00 am and return home at 9:00 am. He found a ransom note, written in black ink, slipped through the bottom of his house’s door. Security camera showed that there were four people loitering around his house’s door during that time: Anita, Larsen, Michael, and Mark. Police searched the houses of all four people and seized a black pen in each. The four pens were sent to a forensics lab to determine which pen wrote the ransom note and identify the kidnapper. In a forensics lab, we - as forensics technicians - use an important technique called Chromatography
There was positive results from the handwriting experts at the laboratory that the writing in the ransom was Bruno Hauptmann’s. It was found that there was a striking resemblance between the mysterious “John” and Bruno Hauptmann. Comparisons of the “John” writing and Bruno’s writing were made. Experts have investigated the comparisons of the writing. The investigators came to the conclusion that the writing in the ransom note placed on the window sill was written by Bruno Hauptmann.
In the wake of testing six different substances with three different pointers, we presumed that the obscure substance was headache medicine such as, Aspirin. The hair found at the crime scene had a place with Anna; this was found via painstakingly looking at every person of interest's' hair under a magnifying instrument and contrasting them with the hair found at the crime scene. The fingerprint on the bottle of the drink was Alex Garcia's and this was figured out by recognizing every person of interest's' sort of fingerprint and the fingerprint found at the crime scene coordinated Alex's. The sloppy shoe print that was at the crime scene has a place with Anna's
Outside of the baby’s window there was a ladder the kidnapper had left. A wood expert was called to testify that the ladder used to kidnap the Lindbergh’s son included a plank from the floor of Hauptmann’s attic”(Newton 220). Secondly, Hauptmann’s handwriting was compared to the ransom notes and they did match (Barclay). Meanwhile, when the police had searched Hauptmann’s house they found the ransom money in a closet (Hart). One of the bills from the money was tracked down to a gas station.
The Mirabal’s father had been engaged in a risky love affair with another woman, and Margarita is one of the daughters of the family formed by the secret couple. After receiving valuable information regarding three of the imprisoned Mirabal sisters from her mother’s cousin, Margarita transferred the news—on the label from a can of tomato paste—to an anxious Patria who was relieved to hear that her sisters were alright. Margarita, of her own accord, made the great risk to smuggle the priceless note to Patria. If she had been caught, death may have ensued for the poor woman, and the incarcerated siblings might have been killed as well. The great courage Margarita displayed is an act worthy of lavish praise, yet none was given.
Condon received the fifth ransom note, delivered by Joseph Perrone, a taxicab driver, who received it from an unidentified stranger. The message stated that another note would be found beneath a stone at a vacant stand, 100 feet from an outlying subway station. This note, the sixth, was found by Condon, as indicated. Following instructions therein, the doctor met an unidentified man, who called himself “John,” at Woodlawn Cemetery, near 233rd Street and Jerome Avenue. They discussed payment of the ransom money.
Through further analysis of the note, the detectives uncovered many grammatical errors such as the dollar signs being in the front an also misspelled words. These misspelled words consisted of ours being “ouers,” later being , “ladder,” and where being,”were,”. This evidently tells us that Bruno Richard Hauptman must have crafted the ransom note. Not only that but, Lindbergh had assigned John Condon, a fellow friend of Lindberghs, to give the ransom money for him. According to the Second Character Cards, “Condon claimed to
The police searched his house and actually found $14,000 in ransom money, since the serial numbers of the bills matched with the ones from the ransom, providing a bit of evidence that he was guilty (Aaseng 17). Hauptmann already had a criminal record, as he was arrested and spent 3 years in prison for various crimes and felonies like armed robbery in Germany, which was where he was born (Newton 220.) Not long afterwards, It was discovered that Hauptmann had used a plank form his attic for use part of the ladder used to break in (Aaseng 18). Then the police got some handwriting experts to help out, “Later, his (Bruno Hauptmann) handwriting was compared with that of the ransom notes.
This was achieved by identifying the suspect. According to the gel, suspect number two’s DNA was found at the crime scene. This is known because the crime scene DNA and suspect two’s DNA both traveled the same distanced. And said before DNA is very polymorphic; no two pieces of DNA will be the same when cut by the same enzyme (Edvotek, 2014). This is also shown in Hyun-Jung Choi’s lap report.
In the novel Abducted by Lisa Hoodless and Charlene Lunnon, we are introduced to some of the horrible things that happen around the world. Readers discover how the authors Lisa and Charlene are strong enough to share their tragic moments. In London two girls named Charlene and Lisa were abducted by a man named Alan while walking to school in the morning. The two girls were taken around town in the trunk of a car. They were taken to the abductors parents house and soon to his apartment in another city outside of London.
After searching the apartment and not finding any trace of her the parents called the police. The kidnapping attracted a lot of publicity and the police vowed to find whoever was responsible. A ransom note was found by the police that said “Get $20,00 reddy & waite for word. Do not notify fbi or police. Bills in 5’s and 10’s.”
The police also found muddy footprints by the window sill at the crime scene that were left by the kidnapper, who I think was Bruno Richard Hauptmann.
Located in the center of town, Sammy’s A&P is five miles out from the beach; if any closer, the girls’ attire may not cause the same uproar Sammy witnesses. Unfortunately for Queenie, as Lengel finished quibbling with truck inventory, he decries the girls’ dress, noting “this isn’t the beach” (653). Queenie led a furious attempt to refute Lengel’s claim, stating “my mother asked me to pick up a jar of herring snacks” (652). Her proclaimed innocence is futile, however, as Lengel denounces their behavior as characteristic of “juvenile delinquency” (653). Upon this decree, Sammy recognizes the girls hastily about to leave and announces to Lengel, “I quit,” following with “you didn’t have to embarrass them” (654).

How Digital Forensics Helped Hunt Down ‘The Craigslist Killer’ The case of The Craigslist Killer may not have made news all over the world, but it certainly made shocking headlines in the US, particularly in Quincy, Massachusetts. Most kidnappers have big reasons to kidnap the individual. Either stalking that person for some time or knowing how the family would react and what they would pay, if the child went missing are big reasons people take who they do. When these guys decided to just talk the richest man in town’s son, they didn’t seem to understand this child wasn’t missed by many. The use of flashbacks and character development in this short story would have helped explain why he wasn’t missed. Instead, the author just includes a note from the father
