The book I chose to read is A Child Called It by Dave Pelzer who tells the story of his horrific childhood. Dave Pelzer as a child was brutally beaten and starved by his unstable alcoholic mother, his mother played so called “games” with him that nearly left him dead. He had to learn to play his mother's games in order to stay alive, as she no longer considered him apart of the family. As years went by Daves punishments or so called “games” became more dangerous, humiliating and disturbing. For example, he was forced to wear the same ripped, smelly clothing everyday.
The book I chose to read for my book review was “ Killing Mr.Griffin”. It is about 5 high school students who hate their english teacher Mr. Griffin and come up with a plan to kidnap him. Their main purpose is to just torture and make Mr. Griffin think he is going to die. The plan takes a tragic turn and results in Mr. Griffin's death. The plan simply falls apart in a domino effect of terror and grief.

Gretel’s childhood has been deprived of the normal, untroubled way of life for a person of young age. She has experienced a wicked divorce in her family, and also Margot, whom Gretel thinks of as almost a second mother, is single due to a previous divorce. Despite that, the later portion of the novel brings times of acceptance, and eventually happiness. In “The Boy Who Wrestled with Angels,” Gretel’s brother Jason has gone from a potential Harvard student to a man controlled by drugs, and unwilling to stop until he temporarily satisfies the sulfur “monster” raging inside of him. On his deathbed, Jason thinks to himself, “He’d thought he was lost, but now he recognized that eternity was all around him, like salt from a shaker or stars in the sky” (Hoffman 144).
Something bad can happen to someone and they could not even notice it. Someone could pretend to be your friend just for your nice house or nice things. If that happens to someone usually they do not notice it until after the fact. That is exactly what happened to Leandra toward the end of her vacation. She thought she had it made, but she did not.
He goes through many horrible things such as drinking his urine, losing his left foot and his left thumb. But, at the end, he still has the faith and braveness to fight with Annie. Paul Sheldon, like a phoenix rises from ashes, does not only get his freedom back but most importantly, he got his ability to write novels again. From his survival, he proves to all the readers that he is not only a warrior hero but also a transcendent hero; he does not only on a journey for the quest for vengeance but also the quest to rid the land of danger as he goes through the five stages of a hero’s journey.
It 's a jaw-dropping book that will leave you wanting more as the author Laurie writes in a crisp and clear way describing the young girl Melinda’s horrific story and how it unfolds. The author 's tone gives off the vibe of a young frighted girl which I find really enhances this sad, but exhilarating story. This story taught me to always speak up for myself and to never let anyone take advantage of me. I would recommend this novel because it is extremely detailed, painting vivid pictures in your mind that really help to magnify and

To begin, Whirligig by Paul Fleischman tells the story of Brent. He ends up killing a young girl named Lea. He has to deal with the consequence of his actions throughout the book.
