The Mysterious Death of Chandra Levy The mysterious murder case of Chandra Levy wasn’t just an ordinary case, but a tragic story about the death of a young woman that would make headlines throughout the nation because of a scandal involving an important political figure. Chandra Levy moved from California to Washington D.C. during her last year of school for a paid internship at the Federal Bureau of Prisons. There, she worked in the division of public affairs and in 2001 her academic eligibility had ended and her internship was terminated. She was supposed to return to her home for her graduation in May, but she went missing and was never seen nor heard from again. The mystery behind her disappearance had two theories involving U.S congressman …show more content…
On May 1st, she sent an email to her parents about her flight home and searched for a website for Rock Creek Park that was located 3 miles from her apartment. (Katz 371). Then, after several days of trying to get into contact with Levy but being unable to reach her, her worried parents decided to contact the police for help (Katz 372). Next, when the police had searched her apartment they found “two pieces of packed luggage” along with “her credit cards, driver’s license, and jewelry”(Katz 372). Soon, after an investigation of a “missing persons” case for Levy had been ongoing for two months, on May 22, a man walking his dog in Rock Creek Park contacted police after he spotted “a half-buried human skull, pieces of clothing, a sneaker, a Sony Walkman, and a pair of sunglasses.” With medical examination, the police were able to identify the skull as Levy. The missing persons case then quickly turned into a homicide investigation. (Katz 374). This supports the idea that something terrible happened to Levy. The details found in Chandra Levy’s death were important to detectives in trying to solve what had led this disastrous …show more content…
Levy and Condit met after he gave her friend an internship, and despite being married and nearly 30 years older, Condit decided to have an affair with Levy, who was younger than his own daughter (Katz 370). Then, after news of their affair went public, he was thought to have been a primary suspect. Levy’s family thought that “Condit knew more about Chandra’s disappearance” despite his denies to any knowledge(Katz 372). Soon, more women started to confess about their affairs with Condit. Anne Marie Smith, who had confessed to a three year long affair with Condit told authorities that during their relationship Condit was “controlling, manipulative,” and that she also had “feared for her safety” (Higham). On July 10th, just hours before the police were supposed to search his apartment, Condit was seen throwing out a box that contained a watch given to him from one of his other affairs (Katz 373). Condit’s image was destroyed by the media and he lost the opportunity at being re-elected for Congress. (Katz 374). Condit’s involvement with Chandra Levy is what eventually led to the end of his political career and his behavior throughout the whole investigation only made him look like he was hiding

The story of Casey Anthony was more than odd. According to USA Today, Caylee Anthony went missing on July 15, 2008.In December of 2008, Caylee’s body was discovered in the woods near the Anthony household ( Boweman). Grandmother, Cynthia Anthony, had dialed 911 the day Caylee went missing to notify police that Casey Anthony had kidnapped the two-year-old; along with stealing a car and money. Though, it had been an odd phone call because once the car had been returned Cynthia had re-called the police saying “My daughter’s car trunk smells like there has been a dead body in it”. This is strange considering the articles of evidence found in the trunk.

Adnan is Innocent Do you remember what you did on this day, exactly one week ago? You might remember some things about that day, or you might remember nothing. How about if I asked what you did 6 weeks ago on this day? Could you tell me?
Anya Schultz, the author of a review titled Serial: A Captivating New Podcast, works to show how multiple narratives and stories can be manipulated and sometimes vastly misinterpreted. Serial, an intriguing, enthralling podcast hosted by Sarah Koenig, tells the story of Hae Min Lee, a young, beautiful, high school senior who was murdered in 1999. Lee 's case, as Koenig and Schultz point out, has a few missing pieces of information that were never accounted for. For example, how did the jury come to the conclusion that Lee 's ex-boyfriend, Adnan Syed, was truly guilty? Why did Syed 's lawyer forget to mention the letter from his acquaintance Asia McClain that could have polished his alibi?
Travis Alexander and the Beautiful Killer Sitting in a cell hundreds of miles away is a woman of small stature who is considered rather good-looking by today's standards. So innocent she seems, but don’t be fooled, for she is responsible for one of the most infamous and scandalous murders of the twenty-first century, the murder of Travis Alexander. This murder was exactly what the world wanted to read about. It was a murder of passion, lust, and betrayal committed by a beautiful woman. In the beginning stages it seemed so transparent, but the deeper America dove it became clear there was much more going on than met the eye.
George Gordon Bryon, a vivacious poet and English nobleman once said, ¨Where there is mystery, it is generally suspected there must be evil¨ which is absolutely correct in the case of Chandra Levy´s disappearance. Free-spirited, ambitious, and beastly independent Levy was welcomed into the world on April 14, 1977 in Cleveland, Ohio. Her dreams of ghosting her remote, rural town is what enhanced her to look at the world as a future FBI agent. She had always knew what she felt her calling was; her highschool Modesto Police uniform explains it all. Ingmar Guandique, an illegal immigrant and Gary Condit, a California congressman, are two key suspects who people believe were involved in the murder of Chandra Levy.
