The intimacy versus isolation stage lasts from early adulthood until middle adulthood. Intimacy versus isolation is often marked by seeking to find a long-term partner or by failing to find a long-term partner and feeling isolated because of it. In the beginning of the movie, Claudia finds a random person in a bar to have casual sex with, but this is not an emotionally intimate relationship, and she still feels internally isolated. Claudia’s risky sexual behavior could be explained through her father and her relationship with both of her parents. According to research conducted by Rezazadeh et al. (2015), “[people] who had been abused by a family member showed more risky sexual behaviors in comparison to individuals who didn’t experience such abuse.” When Claudia was young, her father molested her, and she now has had multiple sexual encounters with strangers, which is dangerous due to the risks of sexually transmitted diseases. Not only can Claudia’s past sexual abuse explain her risky sexual behavior, but who her abuser was also plays an important role. As stated in Rezazadeh …show more content…
Because of the molestation that occurred in her childhood, Claudia has isolated herself from her parents. Claudia’s bad relationship has also potentially increased her risky sexual behavior; according to Rezazadeh (2015), poor familial relationships are associated with more risky sexual behavior. Although Claudia has exhibited risky sexual behavior, she is open to find a long-term partner, which is why she goes on a date with officer Jim. Although Claudia does not believe Jim will like her because of her issues, they kiss; Claudia, however, then leaves the date. The next day, though, Claudia appears to be happy when Jim tells her that he would like to date. While Claudia is emotionally isolated in the beginning of the film, she begins to seek intimacy at the end of the
I read, T4 by Ann Clare Lezotte, which is about her life as a Jewish, deaf girl who lived in Germany. This was the time period when Adolf Hitler ruled their country, which means they didn’t like Jewish people. In the book, she had said, “when my mother was pregnant with me, she was exposed to Rubella, or German Measles, a common cause of hearing loss in infancy” (Lezotte, 3). I’ve never had hearing loss or anything like that but I did have failure to thrive and a sensory disorder when I was younger, which impacted my life a lot.
It is said that “The best relationships are the ones you don’t expect and the ones you never saw coming” (Pinterest, 2016). This quote shows that some relationships are unexpected and turn out to be the best ones a person can have. Relationships are essential for everybody, they teach how to be true to oneself, get out there, and not be afraid. To help prove the thesis, this first short story, “Tic and Shout” by Gail Giles, shows that embracing oneself can get one accepted by others.

In the film Thirteen the main character, Tracy, begins the film with conventionally “good influences” as friends. (I put good influence in quotes because being a good influence is fairly subjective.) Tracy begins to gravitate towards Evie, the traditionally “bad influence”. (Again, parentheses for subjectivity, although Evie, in my mind definitely qualifies as such.) Evie is very popular, and she’s something of an enigma, but something about her makes less emotionally vulnerable kids want to stay away from her.

In A Streetcar Named Desire, many people have analyzed Blanche, her descent into madness, and what might have become of her. However, fewer people think about Stella, or what happens after the closing of the play. Stella most likely stays with Stanley after the close of the play, instead of leaving him as Blanche requested. Throughout the play, we have seen Stella as a fairly round character, but she has changed very little since the beginning. Her relationship with Stanley has not changed much either.
The book of Joshua begins by introducing Joshua as the leader of the Israelites (Joshua 1). God commands the people to conquer the surrounding nations of the Promised Land. Although they were able to make some progression, such as the conquering of Jericho, they did not complete everything they were told.
