We have created a system of government in America based on some of the parts of each government. The Roman government was republican, in which the citizens elected their officials to represent them in the government.The Roman Republic officials had only a limited amount of power. In order for them to remain in power, they had to preserve their support from the Centuriate Assembly while using the power of veto to keep the other oponent from gaining too much power. Their citizenship was much more restricted. citizenship consisted only of adult men who were born in Rome. Women, foreigners, and slaves were not considered Roman citizens and couldn’t vote.
