Ever since I was young I had an interest in computers. I have always been someone that messes around with them, and loves to find out new information about them, like how they work. I am a hard worker and almost nothing pleases me more than getting a job done, and getting it done well. Staring in my 10th grade year of high school my school stated a robotics club, and I was one of the first people to sign up. Robotics club has taught me so much that I would not have learned without it. Things like how to program in Robot C, how to work as a team better, and even how to lead team members. I was/am the team captain of Team 586H in my final year of high school. While this has basically been the only extracurricular activity that I have been apart of, I can safely say it is by far my favorite one. No other activity challenges you so hard academically as well as on how good of a team mate you can be. This was such a unique club that has helped me build up relationships with people I would have otherwise never had anything to do with. I am glad that I chose to join this club and it has taught me lessons that I would have otherwise have had no experience in. …show more content…
The Dairy Queen that I worked at was on the main Purdue campus, so it got really busy. During my time of working there, summer of 2014 and 2015, I learned a lot about what having a job is like. It taught me what having responsibility is like, and being given a task and expected to not only know how to do it, but how to do it the most efficiently that I can and be able to do it fast. After working there for two summers I formed bond with everyone that I worked with, and it made a lasting experience in my life that I will never forget. They say that your first job can determine how you will feel about the rest of them, and I am glad to say that my first job was great and no job can probably top
This experience helped me more about being the head of an organization. Being about of this club is very beneficial because it is basic preparation of becoming a leader. Being a leader of an organization such a DECA speaks volumes
The three careers I chose to examine were IT Security Administrator, Forensics Investigator, and Obstetrician Gynecologist. I chose these careers because I discovered that the employment rates for these jobs are expected to grow at a faster than average 37% from 2012-2022. This is because data security threats are growing and with more digital technology rising, more organizations have become victims of cyber crimes. The other career is what I want to be. Internet Security Administrators, also known as computer security specialists, or Internet security specialists, protect computer systems against attack.
Being a young man in a poor area of Dallas, Texas I use to get in trouble with my friends, just for fun and not care for others. My circle would vandalize poverty, cause terror, and be involved in gangs. All that change once certain friends took the addiction and violence too far. High school graduation was looming, so I took a different route. I could not see myself hurting my own kind.
Before I even stepped into my high school as an official freshman I knew I was going to be a part of my school one way or the other. I made it a goal to be a part of some type of extra-curricular project all four years. This goal I know I have succeeded in because I have been a part of the following extra- curricular projects: three years of SWAT club, four years of Raider Riot, and three varsity sports. All of these extra- curricular projects have made my high school career not only interesting but also made me a better person in the long run. One of the only clubs I was able to be a part of in high school was the SWAT club.
In my sophomore year of high school, my English teacher assigned the class to a read a novel of our choice and report back what we liked most about it. My choice was Ethan Frome and I read the book repeatedly just so I could connect back to the characters and the setting of the novel. When I completed my sophomore year in high school, I discovered my passion for literature and the genres that accompanied it. I always knew that undergraduate studies would be my chance to grow more with my new found interest. .After high school I attended Mississippi Valley State University, a Historically Black University, where I majored in English and graduated with honors.
Throughout my years of attending various colleges, I have never come across a joint degree program that matches Harvard Extension School’s. For many years, I have searched high and low for a cross-cultural liberal arts education that encompasses all aspects of business and collegiate studies. The joint degree presented by Harvard Extension School is an epic innovation to Ivy League academics. It magnificently exemplifies how monumental the options are for professionals in the 21st century.
I would work at Little Lake and on the weekends the students would sit outside relaxing and listening to music from Lisa Magee portable 8-track player. The generosity of the staff and how they loved us was a big deal to me. Uncle Paul (The cook) had so much trust in my
Being a part of these clubs has better prepared me for life, which shows the leadership skills that I have now. Being in middle school and being involved in community service while being an athlete showed how mature I am in focusing on my grades. I’m not the most outspoken person, yet I have shown how much I helped and led leadership skills within my peers. My mother always taught me to be a leader and not a follower. A leader to me, sacrifices their time and desires to benefit a team.
I was born in Oaxaca, Mexico, but I have lived in small community in the central valley for the past ten years. My family and I came to the United States in hopes of a better future. Although our lives have been change in a better way, there have been obstacles in our way. Unfortunately, my parents have always worked in the fields in order for me to get an education and hopefully a better life. My family have harvest different types of crops but unfortunately it is more difficult to find jobs because of the drought in California.
As a determined and persistent math learner, every step in my life resulted from my love for math and, in reward, won me better opportunity to do math, and finally lead me to computational applied mathematics. As one of the fortunate who had experience in several institutes, including UC Berkeley, UCLA, and find great interest in research, I am convinced that doctoral study in Mathematics at UCLA will provide me with the training I need to conduct research at the highest possible level. From elementary school to high school, I enjoyed intensive trainings to prepare for nationally renowned competitions. While the medals I earned in mathematics competitions have opened up doors for me from middle to college, the knowledge and experiences gained from years of unremitting dedication to the craft of problem solving have proven to be the most rewarding result.
Blissfully unaware of the impact it would have on me, at age two my parent’s decided to send me to the Montessori school that I attended through sixth grade. This decision would shape the rest of my life, as it put me in an environment where working with my hands was encouraged and I could explore my interests in everything mechanical. My fascination for machines came from an intrinsic desire to understand how things work, so naturally I channeled that interest and the destructive tendencies of a young boy into taking everything apart that I could get my hands on. The discovery of Lego bricks fueled my passion for building and by age ten I was making everything from mechanized octopod walkers to complex construction equipment.
In order to put in the greatest amount of effort to accomplish something, a deep passion towards that subject must be present. I’ve been amazed and fascinated by the abilities that a robot can have since elementary school, building creations out of whatever is available and personally enjoying the field of engineering. In my everyday life, I show passion towards that subject. This interest I have has driven me to think and do things differently and logically at a higher level. Moreover, I have developed a great willingness to learn to a greater extent about science and mathematics, and how engineering and robotics can be applied to different areas within those core subjects.
For most people robots have become a big improvement for our lives. They have improved over time since we have greater technology then we did in the 1900’s. Robots have helped us as humans tell time, farm, help with space exploration, and help with education. These robots have helped us evolve as human and helped us in creating objects. Others may call people who use them lazy but those robots are actually helping us with our future.
My job at the foodlion grocery store in Roebuck was an unenjoyable working experience to say the least. When I first began working at Foodlion the job was fun and I enjoyed it but as time went on it got worse and worse. As time went on the longer I worked there the more disrespectful my co-workers and supervisors got.
Computer Science intrigues me because I am able to solve problems and use my imagination to produce unique software that helps others. My dream job is one that deals with computers and robotics. I believe that I can truly make a difference with innovative and well-engineered technology. It all started in middle school when my brother introduced me to a website called codecademy.com. Ever since, I have been fascinated with the lines of code that could solve problems, create games and websites, program robots, and the list goes on!
