The five pillars of the National Junior Honor Society (scholarship, service, citizenship, leadership, character) have shaped my middle school experience as well as my perspective in life. Scholarship, the first pillar, has significantly affected my time in middle school. To me, scholarship is a dedication to learning, even if it means sacrificing entertainment or pleasure. I think that the discipline of scholarship is something that I should pursue even after school is over because there is no limit to the knowledge you can learn. It has changed my view of my classes and elevated my learning capacities. My effort and participation have increased, and my commitment to academics has improved. With this sense of scholarship, I can continue into …show more content…
I enjoy learning about how organizations can selflessly impact communities, and how I can return the favor. To me, service is one of the few virtues in life that can benefit both those who sacrifice and those who benefit from the sacrifices. To give something and expect nothing in return is one of the most growing experiences anyone can undergo. My Miracle Babies Drive is an important instance of this to me, as the donations will be given to families with newborns in the NICU. But citizenship is yet another pillar affecting my nature. I used to believe that citizenship could only be shown through loyalty to my country, such as joining the military or working for the government. But now, I see it can still be executed on a greater scale. It has propelled me to serve organizations during my middle school years. The best example to me of an organization that I loved helping was 4Paws4Patriots. They train service dogs for disabled veterans, and I was happy to be able to benefit them. I wanted to thank them for giving up so much to serve our country and prove my citizenship to …show more content…
The first, scholarship, can be applied to my future educational aspirations by giving me the drive and determination to pursue a higher level of learning. Not just in college, but in a career of my choice, and any hardships I might face in life. I have learned through my middle school experience that while challenges will always try to discourage you, as long as you keep in mind the goal you set for yourself, and remember the virtue of scholarship, you can achieve anything. But I can also apply the other four pillars to my future, especially service. There are thousands of ways you can complete an act of service, each of them more meaningful than the last. You do not need to be in the National Junior Honor Society or any organization to assist the people around you and better the world. I hope that any future goals of mine, along with my education, include some aspect of community service and a way to aid many others while accomplishing the things I love to do. Yet, citizenship is another essential pillar playing a part in my future objectives. I believe that any service or virtue you do somehow relates to citizenship. To not only take pride in where you come from but also in how you can help your country by doing your part, is what it means to truly display citizenship. It can be in the smallest actions, but any upstanding step contains a small aspect of citizenship. Next, leadership
One of the most important qualities a member must embody is scholarship. This means demonstrating a commitment to learning. For me and many others, scholarship is something that comes naturally in a competitive environment such as school. By looking at my GPA and the grades I have in my classes, it is clear that I am committed to doing well in school. Not only am I academically ambitious when it comes to test scores and graded assignments, I have a constant desire to acquire more information about new things outside of school and at home.
To create an environment of united students who think creatively, aiding in the betterment of themselves and their future, would be my envisioned goal for the National Honor Society. An important aspect of the National Honor Society would be strong student participation, and the
The National Honor Society is based off of four pillars: Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character. School is a really important part of everyone’s life, and I feel blessed that I have had the opportunities that I have had while growing up in McComb Ohio. While attending McComb I have also been blessed with the ability to always succeed in what I do, and I currently have a 4.0 GPA. I have also been blessed with the opportunity to participate in many different activities such as junior high volleyball, school musicals, jazz band, pep band, marching band, concert band, and choir. During my junior and senior year in marching, concert, and pep band I was first chair clarinet and section leader, specifically during senior year I was a field
Leadership, a drive to serve, and a strong character are crucial aspects of those who wish to live successful and prosperous lives, and unsurprisingly, are desirable traits for those in National Honor Society. Leadership is the ability to motivate, inspire, and guide others in forming a favorable outcome. Instances that I have exhibited leadership include being the captain for two years in a row for Black History Quiz Bowl and being both a counselor and teacher at a 4-H summer camp. The ability to serve helps bring out a person’s humility, selflessness, and deeper understanding of how the world interacts. Character is a culmination of traits that make up a well-rounded person, such as being altruistic or possessing comradeship.
To me, citizenship isn’t just being a person that resides under a title that is shared by others, but to be part of a the community that one resides under. Members of communities are essentially citizens, and they dedicate themselves to putting the interests of their communities in front of their own. The same ideas apply to earth as a whole. Being a citizen of the global community means more than just living on the planet, but to also help others when they are in need. By being a citizen of the earth, I dedicate myself to bettering not just humanity, but everything on this globe.
As an individual who strives to make a positive impact in my community and academic environment, I strongly believe that I should be considered for admission into the National Honor Society. I make it a point to follow the organization's pillars every day. These pillars include Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character. By upholding these pillars, I demonstrate my commitment to academic excellence, character development, and community service. Throughout my academic journey, I have exhibited a steadfast commitment to academic excellence by maintaining a GPA of 4.0 and participating in a multitude of advanced and honors courses.
Citizenship is not just a profit we get to take for granted, it is also a responsibility to make this country better every single day.
Citizenship is a status given by a government to some or all of its people. Being a citizen means not only meeting certain responsibilities, but also enjoying certain rights. In the U.S. today, many of our governmental institutions are based on concepts of the Ancient World. Citizenship in the United States resembles the concepts of citizenship in both Ancient Athens and Ancient Rome. Ancient Athens believed that participating in government and making the city-state work was a part of being a good citizen.
Service, leadership, character, and scholarship; these are the fundamentals that the National Honor Society has based themselves on. I, as a student at Forney high school, am going to try and live up to each of these standards in hopes of joining the NHS. My qualifications may be unique; however, I believe that I fit the requirements in order to become a member. Service, how have I served or can be of service. When it comes to the topic of service most think of community service or serving a table.
The National Honor Society is based off of four pillars; Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character. Scholarship is one of the most important pillars to me. Scholarship means not only doing well in school and getting good grades, but applying what I have learned and using it everyday. I know the importance of education and feel that I am a lifelong learner. I feel very fortunate to have been raised in a family where education is a priority.
It is an extraordinary honor to be considered as a candidate for the National Honor Society. Being considered means I have achieved my goal in demonstrating my determination- in school and outside of school- and my willingness to aid people in my community. Being a part of such a prestigious organization is an enormous responsibility to which I will fully devote my time. Ever since I was a freshman, my goal was to work diligently to be among the highest scholars and to be accepted into this scholarly “hall of fame”. Through my relentless hard work and perseverance, I believe that I possess the four characteristics of a National Honor Society member- leadership, service, character, and scholarship.
National Junior Honor Society is the start of everything. This group helps set me up for my years to come. Being in the NJHS it helps me get into the one in high school, which looks really good one college applications. Having national junior honor society for both middle school and high school would give me a better chance to get into a college I really want to get into. I’ve always wanted to be someone who could help or make a change in this world, instead of just trying to get through life easy.
The National Honor Society is built upon four founding principles: Scholarship, Character, Leadership, and Service. I have a high school life filled with dedication to these four principles on the Spiritual standpoint, the Familial level, the Community level and finally at the National level. Moreover, I did begin my dedication to these same four principles even before this starting with the Boy Scouts of America and this commitment will continue along with having a rich future when I reach my fullest potential. I firmly believe that to have academic excellence is giving your best effort to maintain not just having straight As and a high GPA at or close to the edge of attaining a 4.0, but to also have the skills that help you perform your very best in college and beyond. To recap, it is having a well-rounded education with just the right academics and activities best suited to your
