What is your definition of happiness? My definition of happiness is enjoying all that you. In the book, The Great Gatsby, Fitzgerald thinks the definition of happiness is having a lot of money and high status.some other people think that being loved and loving someone could bring you happiness. Everyone has a different definition of happiness but I think true happiness come from enjoying everything you do, not money and status or even love. Some people say money can't buy you happiness. I think that that statement is very true and in the great gatsby there is a quote that proves that money and status don't make you happy. “His house had never seemed so enormous to me as it did that night when we hunted through the great rooms for cigarettes.”(147) Even though gatsby has a big home, money, and a bunch of other fancy things he isn't happy. If he had daisey he would be. I can't help what’s past.”(132) This quote proves that loving someone doesn't always bring you happiness. Daisy isn't happy that she has to choose either tom or gatsby because she loved both of them. Loving someone can be difficult. Another quote that supports the idea is “She’s not leaving me!” (133) He is saying it like daisy doesn't have a choice. Even though tom loves daisy he was treating her like just an object that he only uses when it's convenient for him. He might actually love her but he shouldn't treat daisy like that.
