Choices. This is what everyone’s life is based on and can be changed because of how our lives can turn out. While choices are a big thing for us to decide what, we need, we must protect the one thing that makes us feel, think, and second guess ourselves to even make choices. A concussion is a serious head injury that can neglect our brain. After acquiring a serious head injury individuals run the risk of permanently altering their behaviors that science and medicine cannot repair. As parents, we play the role of letting our kids play sports that cannot only harm them, but damage their life style. Think about how you would feel if one day you sent your child off to play in a sport i.e., a basketball game and they try to shoot when suddenly someone pulls them down and slams their head on the ground. The next time you talk to them, they are a totally different person than the day or even hours before. How would this effect you? They are unaware of the struggles that can happen with a head force trauma. A concussion is a type of traumatic brain injury that is caused by a blow to the head or body, a fall, or another injury that jars or shakes the brain inside the skull. Many people believe you only have a concussion if you have a mark on your head or a bruise, however this is false. Although there may be cuts or bruises on the head that doesn’t mean there is a concussion and if there is nothing you could have a concussion. A concussion can happen without passing out or blacking out. Unfortunately, some people will have obvious symptoms of a concussion, such as passing out or forgetting what happened before the injury.
