Even though it was repealed, the British government still needed revenue to pay the debt of the war and would soon tax the colonists again. The Tea Act In 1773, the British government passed another tax. This time tea was taxed. The tax actually made the tea cheaper in the colonies.
During the American Revolutionary period Patrick Henry was one of the leading figures during this period of time. He had been an American attorney, statesman, and planter throughout his lifetime. He was an important leader during the movement for Virginia to gain its independence. He had been the first and sixth post-colonial Governor of Virginia from 1776 to 1779 and also during 1784 to 1786.
The Tea Act of 1773 reinstated the issue of Britain’s right to tax the colonies. The Parliament and the colonies disagreed on a system of government in which the colonies would share the same rights and control as Parliament over their colonial affairs. Between 1773 and 1776, enormous amounts of tension between the center and the peripheries regarding the right to control the colonies led to the disintegration of the empire. The colonies and Parliament continued their dispute about the supremacy of the colonies that began with the Stamp Act of 1765.

The Boston Tea Party was one of the most important events in American history. While many might think that the Boston Tea Party was just complaining about taxes, it was truly about the power from King George III and the Parliament. The Boston Tea Party was mainly a protest that was about taxation, but it is truly a political reason because of its power to control the tea companies and the colonists. On December 16, 1773, the Boston Tea Party occurred.
This Act would give an unjust advantage to the East India tea company by decreasing the tax they paid to sell tea in the colonies and therefore lower their prices. Expressed in an article on the History website “The act’s main purpose was not to raise revenue from the colonies but to bail out the floundering East India Company, a key actor in the British economy.” This would cut out local colonial merchants selling their tea, and they reacted with outrage. As stated in a separate article by History “Many colonists viewed the act as yet another example of taxation tyranny, precisely because it left an earlier duty on tea entering the colonies in place.” This proves that Britain was trying to find more ways to tax the colonies and keep them under Britain's control.
The tea act taxed the colonists on tea and enabled British merchants to sell tea in better prices. Once, a secret organization that hated British law went out in the night, dressed up as Indians, threw many boxes of British tea down the Boston Harbor. This event was called the Boston Tea Party. The colonists now felt that they wanted to get away of British law and turn to an independent country. The British were very angry at the colonists and wanted to punish them.
The Boston Tea Party took place on December 16, 1773. The British passed a new act called the Tea Act. This began because Charleston, New York, and Philadelphia rejected tea shipments and the merchants wouldn’t come in to patriot pressure. This upsetted the colonists and many of the groups that were formed to protest against them. One of the groups was called the Sons of Liberty.
This was a tax the crown used to reduce the tax on tea to encourage the colonists to buy British Tea. The colonists wanted this unreasonable tax completely gone, but all the British did was lower it slightly. The colonists took this as a spit in the face and offensive. This led to the Boston Tea Party. The Boston Tea Party was an historical event that took place on December 16th, 1773.
However, in 1773, the East India Company noticed that there was an overproduction of tea and its prices surely would decline (“The Third Imperial Crisis”). Tea was one of the, if not the, most valuable asset to many members in Parliament. Britain was forced to impose a new Tea tax on the colonists, which was aimed to keep the price of tea high. Even this act was reasonable in the eyes of the British, but to the colonists, this was just a British way of assuring dominance considering it was now for profit rather than to pay off debts. The response to the Tea Acts was the Boston Tea Party of 1773 (“The Third Imperial Crisis”).
The Boston Tea Party was a violent, courageous, and an eventful act that took place in 1997 because of constant disputes. It started to become a large issue when the British and English colonist constantly disagreed about the unfair taxes that were charged from the British. The colonists didn’t agree to the taxes at all the the government officials formed a plan. The British put such a hefty tax on the tea because they realized the demand was so outrageously high, and they could make a much larger profit off of it. Colonists did not want to pay the huge taxes, so they started buying/smuggling tea from East India, but the British wanted to have the colonists to buy tea from them because of the taxes.
The riot began when about 50 citizens attacked a British sentinel. A British officer called in additional soldiers, and they too were attacked, so the soldiers fired into the mob, killing 5. The Boston Tea Party began with the Tea Act that past in Boston. The law prevented the colonists from buying tea from other tea shops and that tea was more expensive than the others.
The boston tea party occurred when colonist as a way of rebelion attack british by throwing the tea that they found in their ships. And some people wonder why they did that and historic events show that there were French Indian War before that make the colonists to have an economic crisis so they can pay for the products. And the unique product that haven’t tax was the tea.
