Have you ever faced a life-changing experience that impacted you, your family, or your country? Melba Pattillo Beals, Jackie Robinson, and Feng Ru faced life-changing experiences and made decisions that impacted their lives, their family’s lives, and their countries’ lives. In the story Warriors Don’t Cry by Melba Pattillo Beals, Melba integrated an all white school so blacks can get an equal education as whites. In the story I Never Had It Made by Jackie Robinson, Jackie was the first African American to play in the Major Leagues. Finally, in the story “Father of Chinese Aviation” by Rebecca Maksel, Feng Ru, became the first Chinese aviator to build planes of his own design. Feng Ru spent long hours just to pursue his dream. Hearing of the Wright brother’s success, inspired Feng to become the first Chinese aviator. Feng never gave up , even when the San Francisco earthquake and fire forced him to relocate to a much smaller workshop. Or when his plane crashed. Feng never gave up he just started all over again even if it took all day. Feng Ru was determined. When he died, he became the first Chinese aviator and the words “Chinese Aviation Pioneer” were engraved on his tombstone. In conclusion, Melba Pattillo Beals, Jackie Robinson, and Feng Ru all faced life-changing experiences and made life-changing choices that not only impacted their lives, but their whole countries’ lives. Many things in the world have changed due to their choices. Schools are integrated, African Americans can play Major League Baseball, and there are many Chinese aviators. These three individuals made life-changing choices that impacted themselves and their countries. Their choices still impact our country
