feel like this piece is slightly different from the other pieces I have listened to. The violin in this piece was very skilled and played very nicely in this piece. It ranged in different pitches, from loud to quiet, slow to fast. I think the mood of this symphony is very cheerful because it is similar to background music in the movies when the characters are off to an adventure. I like how all the instruments played blend together naturally. This is what makes it sound very nice and calming. Sometimes, it sounds like there are birds singing in the background because of the light notes that are being played. This symphony may have been composed for an exciting event such as a wedding or awards ceremony. The composer may have officially composed this not very long ago. This is because it sounds somewhat modern but not too recent.

It was a part of his other amazing symphonies during his trip to London. This piece is called “miracle” because of the fact that a chandelier fell during a certain performance. Fortunately, the audience had evaded the fall of the chandelier safely. It was considered a miracle which is why this piece is named “Miracle.” When this symphony was officially released, many political related events were happening at the moment. a few significant occurrences were the pact that India and the USSR signed for a 20-year friendship. It was also when the US Supreme Court desegregated the students in buses. Another event that has impacted the US until now is when the voting age was lowered to 18 years old. All these are events that have made history and are worth celebrating. This may explain the symphony’s mysterious happy
This is a symphony piece which plays in other triumphant moments throughout the movie. The combination of this symphony, the dialogue and the high-angle shot up to Coach Boone evokes powerful emotions in the audience as they experience the gravity of the decision that the young players have to make: Unite and succeed as a team or remain suspicious of each other and fall-apart. So when in the next scene they finally come together as a team, we celebrate along with them – we feel the emotion of their success at setting differences aside to create a strong
This symphony is also called the Fate Symphony which Beethoven explained by sayng that it was how fate knocks at the door, which is heard by the famous four note motif heard in various was through out the entire symphony. It was also written when Beethove started to go deaf and was entering depression as he wouldn’t be able to hear the music that he composed, the fourth movement ends triumphantly showing that he has overcome his lack of hearing and that he has just finished composing an entire symphony without his full hearing
Listening Reflection #1 – After your first hearing of this piece, please jot down some initial impressions. Any reaction or response is valid! 20 points After hearing this song for the first time, I couldn’t help but think of another symphony composed by Joseph Haydn. This is Symphony No. 94 in G Major, or “Surprise”.
In the book, Symphony for the City of the Dead, by M.T. Anderson, the author accentuates the composer, Dmitri Shostakovich, to describe the composer’s devotion for his city and country. The novel was set during 1905-1975 in northern Europe and western Russia. When Shostakovich lived in Leningrad, Russia, during World War 2, he wrote symphonies. He expressed his feelings of horror and hope for Russia's victory against the Nazi power in his symphonies. Although, his seventh symphony was the most significant to all globally in this time of war.
This orchestral composition is a skillful combination of these elements that makes this classical piece one of my favorites. The instrumentation
Also, the tempo of the 4th movement truly helps me savor all the complexity and can listen to every single note of the piece. After the 4th movement is the Ode to Joy, the movement starts with the instruments, and then the chorus comes in. The Schiller's poem “Ode to Joy” inspired Beethoven to write this astonishing piece of music for people to listen. In fact, I noticed that many times orchestras play Beethoven much slower than he intended; however, it can help the audience easily to hear all the symphony. As a matter of fact, I’m not a fan of classical music, but for the pieces, the melody is peaceful and tender, overwhelming.
His style varied in fashion, his work providing an element of surprise to ears that listened. One of his symphonies, nicknamed Surprise, highlights the clever and humorous character of Haydn. Here, we are met with smooth staccato chords, until we are unexpectedly hit with a much more dissonant sound in syncopation, providing the element of surprise, as the title of the piece’s nickname suggests. Haydn’s music heavily centered around a thematic approach, highlighting dynamics, changes in texture, sans consistent rhythm, but rather a variety of changes in tone
The Fifth Symphony was in development for a long time. The first sketches are from 1804 following the completion of the third symphony. However, Beethoven interrupted the progress on the 5th symphony repeatedly to prepare other compositions, including the first version of Fidelio, the Appassionata piano sonata, the three Razumovsky string quartets, the Violin Concerto, the Fourth Piano Concerto and the fourth symphony. Beethoven added the final touches to the Fifth Symphony, which took place in 1807–1808, was being written at the same time as the Sixth Symphony, which premiered at the same concert.
Ludwig van Beethoven and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart are both considered the greatest composers of history. Although their style is very different they have some similarities in their work. Ludwig van Beethoven was baptized on December 17, 1770 in Bonn. He lived in between the Classical and the Romantic eras. By the age of 11, Beethoven had to leave school because his family could not afford it.
The opening piece for the evening was “Entry of the Gods into Valhalla” written by Richard Wagner. This specific song was taken from Das Rheingold and was written in the Romantic Era. “Entry of the Gods into Valhalla” starts with deep mysterious music
Personally, the execution of the rendition was flawless and very professionally conducted. The cry from the violin was cantabile in nature taking charge amongst the other instruments
First of all, the piece is quite interesting as a prelude – an introductory piece of music as it start off with dynamic and vibrant sounds that include the whole ensemble. This piece is structured as a three-part or ternary form which consists of ABA’ form. The idea of this piece is mainly act as an introductory of a story because this piece is only an excerpt from a bigger orchestral performance. From what I have heard, the solo performance is mainly comprise of the woodwind instruments in part B that indicated the slight sign of relief and calmness. The piece has a lot of variation where the composer include different timbres and dynamics such as the high dynamic structure during the first and the last part with the associating crashes of cymbals.
This indicates that the Symphony has been performing classical music in America for close to 200 years. Those numbers of years have been through many wars, tragedies, revolutions, and generations of Americans which relied on the Symphony to produce music. During wars it was a composer’s job to produce music that would adequately rally troops fighting and music to calm the civilians in America which worried about their loved ones. All of America’s military branches have classical music as their
It is fully orchestral the melody is conveyed with both hands at two octaves distance filled with tremolos all figuring a strings orchestra setting with first violins and cellos at the cantabile part and second violins and altos "filling
Although I am not necessarily into classical concerts, I really enjoyed the serene tone that Updike set in place when writing this poem. The poem gives off such an ‘at peace’ vibe and the way it is written, Updike’s thoughts are conveyed smoothly. The theme of this poem is appreciation for music because when Updike says, “that held the holy glowing fantasy together.” , we can clearly see that the way the instruments come together and the way they make him feel. The colors Updike refers to in the poem like, “the vigor from the red, the blazing blue, so that the listening eye saw suddenly the thick black lines” are all examples of symbolism.
