ities in the late 1800’s had very dramatic changes during the industrial revolution, these changes were both positive and negative and had many effects towards the future. Some negative effect would be: hard labor, danger of working in the factories & strikes. The positive effects would be: steel production, & cities were rebuilt.

The industrial revolution did not only change how people worked but where they worked since colonial days most Americans have lived & worked in rural areas in the late 1800’s lives of more people began to move to cities to find jobs. Urban areas doubled, tripled, or quadrupled in size which led to overcrowding in cities. Sometimes a large population is a good thing, but in this case the population was too big and caused many health problems. Living conditions were dirty and unhealthy. Cities were unsanitary and diseases filled the streets. There were no sanitation codes in cities.
