Julius used the technique of leading by example; he showed his fellow teammates that if he could get on the field every day and give 100 percent so could they. Gary was an all around great leader and he made sure to stand up for what was right even if it meant losing
One of the ways Chris shows leadership is during the pregame before they are about to start playing I watch Chris on TV giving his teammates a motivational speech to get them hyped and ready to play the game. Another way Chris Paul demonstrate

He shared this leadership style has been effective for him building rapport, respect, and camaraderie amongst his subordinates. He says the best way to enter a team is to learn the team you are leading before you commit to one style of leadership. Inquire the needs of the men and women and establish the leadership that is effective for you. Don’t be tied down by have one style and being the definition of a traditional leader. (Challenges faced)^ Leadership is a complex concept and there are different ways of being a successful leader. Phil Jackson has had a substantial amount of leadership strategies throughout his career being a basketball coach. One of Jackson’s most effective strategies that helped win his eleven NBA titles was his coaching style. He never believed in forcing his will on his players or thinking for his players. “I’ve always been interested in getting players to think for themselves so that they can make difficult decisions in the heat of battle.”
Coach Boone, the coach for the Titans, and his team played during the Civil Rights Movement. The Civil Rights Movement was a time period in the 60s where black people were fighting for their rights, such as education, the ability to get jobs they want, and to not be discriminated at all anymore. The Civil Rights Movement shows up when several black students were bussed to T.C. Williams and they want to play football with the white students. That is a problem because the white students don’t want to play football any longer since the black people are there, they don’t like them. Coach Boone handled, and eventually defeated, racism on his team because he got them to work together, to respect each other and their space, and to judge each other
Remember the Titans Based in a real story, the film Remember the Titans shows what happened in United States during the 70’s. A white high school was integrated with black students from another high school in order to break racial segregation. Both football teams had to be unified, and the black coach was chosen to be the head coach of the football team. Although at the beginning there was no respect and harmony, they started to get to know each other and get along. When they returned from the camp the prejudices still stayed in the thoughts of the rest of people and the players had to face many difficulties, but they managed to stick together as a team and win the season.
“I will never cut a player who comes out to play for me, but when you put that uniform on, that Titan uniform, you better come to work.” These are the words of Coach Boone, who is known as the main character throughout the movie: Remember the Titans. In the movie, there are two schools in Virginia that are trying to form a high school, and the head coach of the football team is an African American man. Tensions arise when players of different races are joined together on the same football team, but after Coach Boone delivers his motivational speech about coming together as a team and striving to be the best, the team will become closer than ever. He lectures his team on what football really means and how they should aim for perfection.
(p. 852). Qualitative research recommends that when formal leaders are chosen by coaches, the critical characteristics of the leader should be aligned with both the coaching staff and team’s identity and embrace the qualities of honesty, generosity, unselfishness, maturity, experience, passion, responsible, and confident (Loughead et al., 2014). From a quantitative research perspective, leaders were found to have strong interpersonal connections with other teammates.
The questioning of roles is also shown when the past head football coach Yoast enters Boone’s meeting with the black athletes by entering in with the white players. Coach Yoast does not know how this confrontation between him and Coach Boone will go. The end of this phase occurs when the team is walking into training camp. In this scene the team is shown
A leader is someone who takes charge when it matters the most. Even when the odds are completely against them they push on to reach their goal. The person I believe is a great leader is Wardell Stephen Curry II. Stephen Curry dreamed of going to the NBA and be just like his dad Dell Curry. Steph Curry was doubted all his life due to his size though.
One of the fundamental problems with the word “leadership” in the world today is that many people want to identify with it, yet few make the necessary sacrifices and commitments that are needed to create change and influence others. Throughout my high school experience, I have made it a goal of mine to use my leadership skills to create change for the better in both my school and community. As a middle schooler and young high schooler, I considered myself a leader and wanted to be involved in as many organizations and activities as possible. I wanted to be a leader, but my motivations were selfish and inconsistent. My definition and idea of leadership at that time revolved around adults and my classmates thinking highly of me.
