During the Civil War, many Native Americans got split up in choosing either the Union or Confederacy, this Became very important because leading up to the civil war the Union and Confederacy started to realize that Native Americans actually did have a very big impact on the way the war would turn out. The Union and the confederates needed all the help they could get and the natives were instrumental in being victorious in many battles. Manassas, VA helt 2 battles in the Civil War, the natives fought passionately which i think really says something considering they were considered apart of their own separate nation. The Union in the north, and Confederacy in the south had recognized that a good relationship and loyal alliances with the native american Tribes would be a smart to have when the Civil War started on April 12, 1861. The natives help with a lot of things but the main ideas that the natives would help with were things such as showing support for their states rights and beliefs toward their system of government which made their political view look better as well as stronger, also the natives would help provide men to fight in battles and the soon to come war. The split of native americans were automatically one-sided for the natives were bound to allie with the confederacy in the south. The south was appealing to the natives because the south was famous for their importance of agriculture, landowners, and slave useage. This was different from the north because the north was based off of upcoming business and industrial advances. The confederacy took advantage of this one-sided choice by offering protection, independence of the Indian nations and to come up with treaties that would be more suitable for both the natives and the the U.S to benefit. However the advantage the the confederacy had did not last long and their economy started to become poor.
