Making Innovation Innovation is all around us, it is just waiting for our thoughts to collide to form a great idea that can benefit our lives in one way or another. Through our class’ readings from, Where Good Ideas Come From, by Steven Johnson, we are able to discover that good ideas are found through our passions. Since it is a new year, I have set resolutions for myself that relate to my passions. My passions that I am focusing on right now are wellness and becoming more active, like I use to be. I will need to start thinking more innovatively in order for me to stay motivated when the distractions of college life, like class work and my job, are pulling me in other directions. Through my years at Lakeland College, I have seen that wellness …show more content…
I have always been addicted to art. Not so much about the history, but creating it. I have the freedom to do or make anything I want, with no instructions. One of my favorite activities is painting. It is just me and the canvas, putting layers of paint on top of each other, seeing how they blend together to make a scene; most of the time it is beach themed because there is no better place than next to the water. However, the most common things I do are DYI projects. Crafting is my one true love. I always make new things that can add creativity to my dorm room or someone else’s. One important thing to know is that I never keep my artwork, except for a few crafts here and there. I do not own a single painting that I have created, they can be found hanging on various friends’ and family’s walls. I give my projects to people so that they can always have a piece of me, it also makes people smile because who doesn’t like getting …show more content…
I hate doing nothing, I need to be productive. So basically, games fill the void of doing nothing. When I visit friends, we go shopping, talk, watch movies, you know the basics; however, there is always that moment of ‘so now what.’ I dread that point so, I simply mention the idea of a game, “Let’s go to the gym and play basketball, let’s play cards, Monopoly….” Spending time with friends and playing games might seem like a weird passion, but it is what I look forward to. Each time I am with friends or playing games, I am always laughing and creating new memories. It is hard to predict what we will say or do, it these little adventures that keep life
We’re often told to do what we love. But when the things we love hate each other, we have to make compromises. This happened to Herbert Foster in “The Foster Portfolio” by Kurt Vonnegut. The theme of this story is that sometimes you have to make sacrifices to keep what you love and that’s shown throughout the story through Herbert’s wanting to keep both his family and jazz. He knew he couldn’t have both openly, so he hid them from each other and gave up a lot to keep them hidden.
Directly after robotics club and procrastination, my favorite pastime is reading. Starting in elementary school I would pick up a book that intrigued me and read it through without ever setting it down. My reading habits got worse(or better depending on how you look at it) once my parents bought me a Kindle and gave me the means to purchase a book whenever I wanted to. Ultimately, my kindle led to some problems at school because I stopped paying attention in class in order to read.
Most of my friends like the stuff that I do, But all of them love eating pizza and playing basketball this brings us to another activity that I like to do which is play basket ball, I mostly play it with my cousin Chris because we have been practicing with each other ever since we where little and we are always constantly getting better. The final thing is I love to drive I just recently got my license a few weeks ago. I cannot stop wanting to drive even if it is to get things for my mom. I also like to work on my car to get it to the best it can look.
Games can do good and bad to us. Good, because we don´t have real consequences of bad decisions, and we can prepare for real life, but they are bad because they can get us addicted to them, separating us from the real world and from the people we
One time I remember my sister and I play wrestling and the rest of the family watching. It was so fun. We all laughed and played around the house. We have something that no amount of friends and good works can fill. We have long talks about life, morals, and support.
Johnathan Swift, a clergyman and a political writer for the Whig Party, wrote the problem/ solution essay, “A Modest Proposal.” Swift has been called the greatest satirist in the English language. “A Modest Proposal” is a prime example of satire because satire is using cutting humor or irony to ridicule or make fun of the vices or mistakes of a person or country. Swift decided to use satire because if he made his proposal legitimate, people would not take it seriously. At the time this essay was written, people were indifferent, so Swift took their indifference and wrote “A Modest Proposal.”
The name of the book I read was called What Were They Thinking by Robert M. McMath and Thom Forbes. In this book he talks about marketing techniques that he has learned from selling over 80,000 new product innovations and idiocies. I am going to talk about some of the ways that he talks about to be a successful business man. Go with the Flow When Robert says go with the flow he is trying to say that if your sales arent doing good then you should never give up on a product. For example, Kimberly Clark, when she first came out with her brand "Kleenex", it was advertised as a cold-cream remover.
Small Change by Malcolm Gladwell The purpose of "Small Change" by Malcolm Gladwell is to explore social media's limitations in promoting social activism. Gladwell notes that social activism requires stronger connections to create meaningful, long-term social change. Though social media provides a quick and broad platform to reach a diverse audience, its platform could strengthen commitment, proper structuring, and organization since it cannot provide a solid base to support long-lasting social changes. My judgment of Gladwell's purpose in "Small Change" is to shed light on the limitations of social media in promoting meaningful and long-lasting social change, citing weak-tie activism, participation illusion, a lack of proper structure, and
In the essay, “Don't you think It's Time to Start Thinking?” by Northrop Frye, published in the Toronto Star in 1986, tells how Northrop Frye was concerned about how often students are expressing their ideas without articulate them. And for this reason, the author feels that they do not have any sense of language as a structure. At the same time it provide information about how students and people in general should start thinking. When I read the title of this essay, I thought that will be just about the way that students were thinking but not critically.
On some other day, we all met up at one friend 's house and watched "Brain Games". The only thing I enjoyed doing was eating the pizza, until I watched it myself, which got me watching half a season for some reason. It might have been because I could concentrate more on the brain tricks and challenges, since my friends were talking through the whole thing. After arriving home, I would play Minecraft or Paladins by myself which, not surprisingly, was more fun. This was because, when I get frustrated, my friends would be like "chill, it 's just a game" which would make the situation worse.
Ever since I was a little girl I’ve always had a passion for art. Visual arts more specifically. I love to sketch, and I have recently taken up painting. Something about drawing and being able to create has always relaxed me. Art is a great way to express yourself when you are unable to do so through words.

Various games are activities that have been around since the beginning of time has evolved into a technology based forum for all ages called video games. These types of games have become an extremely popular activity and are a big part of a lot of people’s everyday lives. Lindegaard (InnoCentive 2013) underlines that “innovation leaders of any organization should realize that when it comes to making innovation of all types happen, people matter more than ideas. Investing in the development of people who excel at the skills of innovation will play even bigger dividends than in past”. The steps for transforming organization are given in Exhibit 9 (Kotter
When I was a kid, my cousin/godbrother and I really love playing video games. Video games were like an everyday drug we need to stay alive. Without video games we would have been very bored, especially when no one outside to play with. Whenever a new video game got released we will find any kind of way to get that game, but we had got a unique lessen after this and it was patience. 10 years ago, my mother was a single parent with three kids same with my aunts
