The yacht was heading for Rio de Janerio, Brazil. Whitney and Rainsford were hunters and talking with each other how they haunt the animals in Amazon River basin. Whitney found an island known as "Ship trap" and many sailors have fear of the island. during the midnight Rainsford heard the voice of an animal screech and gunshot. He ran towards the deck but he slips on the railing and falls into the sea. he asked for help but no one listen to him and he swims to the island and sleep until next afternoon. He wakes up and follow the footprints of the hunter and finds a large house. The short story “The Most Dangerous Game,” by Richard Connell has two main characters that exhibit distinct traits throughout the story. The protagonist, Rainsford, expresses aloofness, fearlessness, and experience. The story’s ironic plot twist has a small effect on Rainsford’s ways. During the rising action Rainsford experiences becoming the prey and shows fearlessness. He uses his experience to survive being the prey, but continues to express aloofness.
General Zaroff challenged Rainsford by saying, “I’ll cheerfully acknowledge myself defeated if I do not find you by the third day.” So, Rainsford accepted the challenge, and on the third day, he fooled the General by swimming back to the house and hiding behind the bed curtain. Rainsford a celebrated hunter falls overboard in the Caribbean and swims to a nearby island called ship trap island. A rich hunter living on the island named Zaroff takes him in and gives him food cloths and shelter. He tells him about his hunting then tells about his new animal. Rainsford realizes he means humans and is out raged when Zaroff offers to take him hunting. Zaroff sends Rainsford off with a knife a set of cloths and food then starts to hunt him.
In the short story “The most dangerous game “. Rainsford was justified in killing General Zaroff. Rainsford is a professional hunter and writer. Who one day fell off a boat and swam to Ship-Wreck Island. The island was known of bad omen because of all the ships who happened to walk to their deaths.
He then wondered what to do from there and decided to jump into the sea and swim along the shore to Zaroff’s house. He had been swimming away from the hounds and soon made it to Zaroff’s bedroom to hide and waiting for him to arrive. Zaroff then finished eating and came upstairs. He went to the window then found Rainsford in the curtains and he was shocked to see him there. Zaroff then congratulated Rainsford and “Zaroff said with a deep bow, One of us is to furnish a repast for the hounds.
After Rainsford knocks on the door of the strange chateau in a jungle on the island, he meets the owner of the place General Zaroff. When Rainsford and General Zaroff start talking about Zaroff’s “game,” suspense rises. Zaroff hunts humans instead of animals in his game, and when they start talking about what happens if one of them loses, you’ll want to continue reading to see who wins and how. While they are talking about what happens if either one loses, General Zaroff says that if he loses, he will acknowledge himself as defeated and he will place Rainsford on the mainland near a town. Another highly unbelievable event that takes place is when Rainsford swam all the way around the island to kill Zaroff. This is extremely unbelievable because Rainsford was very exhausted and worn out. First Rainsfords trap kills Ivan, but the dogs move on, trapping Rainsford at the edge of a cliff. Next instead of fighting the dogs, Rainsford jumps off into the sea below, stunned and angered, Zaroff returns to his home. Finally as he flicks on his bedroom light, he is in complete shock to find Rainsford hidden within the curtains of the bed.
He knew how to avoid them he just didn’t know if avoiding them the way thought in his head was going to work. He ended up getting caught in one of the traps and didn’t know what to do. He had to think quickly before Zaroff could kill him and take all his weapons. The battle ended with Rainsford winning. The night after rainsford won the great battle between General Zaroff, he went home that night and slept in the bed off Zaroff's.
Rainsford swims to the island after falling off the yacht. He arrives at a small island called "Ship-Trap Island.”. On the mysterious Caribbean island, he finds a house owned by a hunter named Zaroff. Rainsford and Zaroff are both hunters but Zaroff is a world famous hunter. However, Zaroff hunts a different animal which can fight back “humans”.
When Rainsford was getting ready to fight General Zaroff, the antagonist in the story, “Rainsford still did not smile. ‘I am still a beast at bay.’ he said, in a low, hoarse voice. ‘Get ready General Zaroff’ (Connell 112). Rainsford shows how he is willing to sacrifice himself to kill the “bad guy”.
When an unfortunate accident throws Rainsford overboard, he stays calm (Connell 28). In this sudden event, he needs to stay calm, and he does that very well. From this point, he immediately looks around and surveys to find a place to go that isn’t stranded in the ocean. “General, I wish to leave this island at once” (Connell 36). Hearing all about the island and General Zaroff makes Rainsford decide he needs to leave.
His first thought is to get as far away as he can, ‘His first idea was to put as distance between himself and General Zaroff.’ But as he calms down and starts thinking rationally, he realizes he needs to try to survive and outsmart Zaroff and play along with his game. As the days go by he starts losing his morals and tries to kill Zaroff, first by dropping a log on him, ‘The dead tree, delicately adjusted to rest on the cut living one crashed down and struck the general.’ Rainsford has started losing his morals and getting more in touch with his beast.
On a “dank tropical night” (1) Rainsford finds their yacht near an island commonly known as “Ship-Trap Island” (1). Soon after his fellow friend bids his goodnight, Rainsford hears a distant “pistol shot” (4) coming from the island. Engrossed by the sound he accidentally falls off the yacht and into the Caribbean Sea.
